    21 Day Fix

So my wife and I started to do 21 Day Fix yesterday which is a fab diet, but I'm hoping it can jump start me to get back into running shape as I'd like to run a marathon in the next two years. I did a half marathon a few years ago and then fell off the running wagon.

Anyways based on my body weight and their special calculations I get the following portions per day:
    5 - Veggies
    3 - Fruits
    5 - Proteins
    4 - Carbs
    1 - Healthy Fat
    1 - Seed/Dressing
    14 Cups of Water

All the portions are measured about by special containers so the sizes are predetermined. I'm supposed to be taking in between 1,900 - 2,100 calories a day.

Day 1 went well, I think I probably went a little over on the calorie amount but I did a 60 minute workout on the elliptical to burn 600 calories.

We'll see how Day 2 goes today as my body continues to adjust to a lower amount of intake.
    COMING SOON...

Fad diets are never successful for long-term weight loss. Fact.

I ran 45 minutes this morning burning 704 calories. Set a new personal record for speed over the past two years in so doing. I have a ways to go to catch JATM's skinny butt however. Young guys suck.

Good to hear people making commitments to be healthy though. So good for you. Just a fact that fad diets will ultimately let you down. I do this for a living so I have seen it 1000 times over.

I have no illusions about what is, I just want it to help start me off.

I appreciate the advice and good wishes though.

    Re: 21 Day Fix

Just after I turned 40, well maybe 6 months after I turned 40, I started my own 21 day get healthy plan ..

I figured if it takes 21 days to break or develop a habit, why not try it with being "fit" ..

So, I ran every day for 21 days straight ... whether it was a mile, a half mile or how ever far I could run ..

From there, I began to eat better, and now I am at the gym, 3-4 days a week. I will be turning 43 next year, and have NEVER felt better.

Keep at it .. don't give up, and go to a yoga class, thats my only recommendation for you.. I wish I had done yoga at an early age.

Back of the program is that every day there is a video workout to do. I'm doing most of them and adding running as well. One of the workouts is Yoga.

    Yoga really is so important.

Your muscles need it to properly heal themselves after workouts.. The stretching helps to properly lengthen the muscles and keep healthy ... Plus, reduces your risk of injury.

    You betcha!

Because of age, I have trouble with mat yoga, but the chair yoga I do is extremely beneficial.

Here are the routines I use:
