So are the Pats and Karlos Williams a good match?
Possibly.
Listed at 230 pounds, Williams is a powerful back with good speed, as evidenced by his 4.48 40 yard dash time at the 2015 NFL combine. He is a bit of an upright runner, but he possesses rare athleticism at his size.
Based on a highly impressive rookie season in which Williams averaged 5.6 yards per carry and scored nine touchdowns, Williams is almost certain to be claimed off waivers.
That's the good.
The bad: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Williams ballooned to 261 pounds in the offseason. He is facing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. He also entered the league with some off-the-field issues; he was investigated for domestic battery at Florida State, but charges were never filed.
That's a lot of baggage.
If the Patriots deem Williams talented enough to take a risk, he'd probably carve out a role in the backfield. LeGarrette Blount had a strong showing in Thursday's preseason win over the Bears, but he has struggled in short-yardage situations and isn't likely to stick around in New England beyond this season. At 29, Blount is nearing the end of his career.
Tyler Gaffney hasn't shown much behind him, and Brandon Bolden has never been a dependable between-the-tackles back. Donald Brown, who signed as a free agent in the offseason, has hardly practiced.
Dion Lewis' situation remains murky, but the Pats have insurance behind him in James White.
It wouldn't be a surprise to see the Patriots add a big, young running back to the mix, but they may want to wait until other teams trim their rosters. The Chiefs and Titans, for example, have several young running backs that are in danger of not making the 53-man roster.
I had no hopes for karlos other than to be a good back up. last year, with the concussions, I didn't think he'd last more than 3 years. this early exit surprised me.

lay it on us. it's a slow week in bills news. give us something to speculate on.

I like was KW did last year, but I always said he had a lot to prove before he could be considered a featured RB, and he was likely to never realize it given his concussions. The drug stuff was another surprising blow, and while I knew of the bad stuff in his background, I didn't realize it was as bad as it apparently is.
FSU. Nuff said.
Lehner's history. He just doesn't know it yet.

Report: Pittsburgh Steelers showing interest in former Bills RB Karlos Williams

Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports
The Pittsburgh Steelers don't necessarily need running backs on their roster, but reports are showing they are showing interest in Karlos Williams, Vince Williams' brother.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have already trimmed their roster from 90 to 79 players, but it hasn't stopped them from keeping an eye on the players who are currently available. According to reports, one of those players is formerBuffalo Bills running back Karlos Williams, brother of Steelers ILB Vince Williams.

Source close to situation tells me Steelers continue to show interest in former Bills RB Karlos Williams. His brother Vince plays for them.

Capaccio, a beat writer for the Bills, stated the Steelers continue to show interest in Karlos Williams, and I doubt it would be a stretch to imagine Vince pulling some strings for his brother to become a part of what could be a very special group in 2016. Nonetheless, Karlos is suspended the first four games of the 2016 season due to a DUI and violation of the league's Substance Abuse Program.
What is even more head scratching in this scenario is the Steelers reported need for a running back. Le'Veon Bell is the entrenched starter, with DeAngelo Williams fully capable as the primary backup, and starter throughout Bell's three-game suspension. However, the team seems to have two capable players currently on their roster who could fill out the depth chart, Fitzgerald Toussaint and Daryl Richardson.
Both players have played well in the preseason, but these reports of the Steelers' interest in Williams could show their lack of faith in any running back not named Bell or Williams.
In 2015, as a rookie, Williams rushed for 517 yards on 93 attempts in 11 games, all while scoring 7 touchdowns. Williams is a bigger back, 6-feet 1-inches and 229-pounds, but has had questions surrounding his conditioning after his tenure in Buffalo came to a close.
If the Steelers decide to sign Williams, it would be more than just a reuniting with his biological brother, it would equate to the end of the road for either Toussaint or Richardson.

Would be god to see him get his act together and get back on to the field.
