    BILLS TRYING TO END TAILGATING

With the Bills' first home game Thursday, law enforcement have come forward with new security measures, including enhanced security presence and walk-through metal detectors at New Era Field.
According to Orchard Park Police Chief Mark Pacholec, there are a few private lots near the stadium that are the most concerning from a law enforcement standpoint.

Law enforcement and Orchard Park residents said before the meeting Tuesday that they would discuss a permit system for private lot owners to allow police access during home Bills games. Officials believe this permit system could make it easier for law enforcement to handle situations that happen on private property nearby the stadium.

"We're not talking about the mom-and-dad, smaller lots, and we're not talking about the bulk of them, but there are a handful of them-- five, six lots, that continually present problems," Pacholec said last week. "Car larcenies. People jumping on burning tables and setting themselves on fire. People do stupid things that are going to get themselves and others hurt."

Re: BILLS TRYING TO END TAILGATING

I never really understood the permit thing. I've never seen police hesitate any whether or not someone is catching their attention on public or private property. I don't get why they'd need a permit to enforce law from a private lot owner.

Re: BILLS TRYING TO END TAILGATING

It's not going to happen. I tailgated before the Ravens game on Sunday and their stadium is downtown. I walked past a half dozen cops on city streets drinking a beer in blatant violation of open container laws, wearing the opposing team's colors. They didn't even look at me.

Most of the cops out there on game day are making time and a half or double as private security. They don't give a **** about anyone who's not a real problem.

Where in the bloody ***** hell in that article does it state anywhere near what your thread title suggests it does?

You are without a doubt THE worst poster on this forum who constantly spreads BS like this have no validity in the real world.

How you're allowed to still post here, under any name as you should be IP banned at this point, baffles me.

BTW Danny, is the First Niagara Center still flooded? Just curious. smfh

God forbid the Bills try to stop people from setting themselves on fire, or destroying other people's things.

Yea, I think this is more about the Bills trying to put an end to weekly embarrassment that was dumbasses last year who kept lighting things on fire, having sex in public, or jumping through tables.
    COMING SOON...

Re: BILLS TRYING TO END TAILGATING

I do think the eventual goal is to end tailgating.

It costs beer sales inside and in almost every other city you don't get the liberties that Buffalo has enjoyed.

the permit is just a cost that people will pay or go to other lots. tailgating has jumped the shark in recent years.

If this is about increasing in stadium sales, can we expect licensed hookers in the stadium?

Re: BILLS TRYING TO END TAILGATING

Good luck trying to enforce it. I think Wagoncircler gets it right and so does OPV. They are trying to secure revenue, its what stadiums do. However, I don't see it as an end to tailgating as much as it is trying to do away with a bad (earned fairly or not) reputation of fans acting like complete ass clowns. Its why the Bills are going to eventually build a new stadium. Its why the league is all about new stadiums and raising ticket prices. The hope is to price the riff raff out. When you are entertaining millionaires and societal snobs you don't want drunken morons in the stands or the parking lot otherwise you might not get people to come back.

Re: BILLS TRYING TO END TAILGATING

Are there any stadiums in the NFL that don't allow tailgating? Honest question... is there more than 3? are there any?
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Levi Stadium is the only stadium I can think of that doesn't allow tailgating...they have a bunch of rules like you can't throw around any item, much less an ordinary football, in their lots. Don't know/remember if that extends to drinking.

I know the NFL tried to ban tailgating for the Superbowl but gave in and allowed it in one lot.

Gillette Stadium built an entire concourse with restaurants shops and bars around it. They still allow tailgating, both the added commerce and the seasoned tailgaters benefit.

They do not need to hesitate if they see a crime. To go on the property without probable cause is what they need the permit for...to do walk through....
