All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
What an odd, off-the-wall trade at this time. Only the fly on the wall who was there can make sense of it, I suppose.
The Bills brought in Lorenzo Alexander to play special teams. Now that he has been pushed into a starter due to the injuries, they needed to acquire someone else to fill the special teams role.

But why a trade? There were plenty among today's cuts to serve that role. CIN cut a chap named Jayson DiManche, LB, that BUF could of got for nothing. CIN kept him active during the season for 2 years - on their strong roster - and he was decent on ST. Had some plays from scrimmage, too.

That's the whole thing. Trading for an ST linebacker just strikes me as silly.
Of course.
CIN's Director of Player Personnel Duke Tobin is tops. B'gals are exceptionally deep, save the WR position with the defection of Jones and Sanu. The budget last year said he had to go, but he was brought back. There just was no room for him in the inn this year, so to speak. I hope Jayson gets a gig - good kid who gives his best. BUF could have given him a look - for nothing.
BTW, I hope some team will be well-served by picking up today's cut Brandon Tate. His receiving was under-utilized, IMO:
1:45 left, Rex stares across the field at his nemesis Belichick, Belichick stares back. ST coach Danny Crossman falls to the turf, weeping. "We need a linebacker on special teams, coach, we need one NOW...what will we do ?"
Rex's chin comes up, he nods at Rob without taking his eyes from Belichick. Rob pulls away the cape on the player next to him. Belichick's eyes flicker to the player. He says "****" on the open mike. Up in the suite Whaley stands with a growl. "YES."
Some generic coach says to Belichick, "We're up by 38, coach ?"
Belichick's stare returns to Ryan's glare. "That's Lerentree McCoy."
"You mean Lerentee McCrory, coach ?"
Another coach pipes in from the booth, "Larry McCarey."
Belichick snarls. "Whoever, he's that good."
The staff looks at Belichick, who takes off his headset. "Just kidding, how about Arby's tonight ?" (he flips a bird at Rex). "Idiot."
It's not a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when" Clay goes down. You can bet Whaley is using his superlative GM skills to come up with a TE off the waiver wire.
The 49ers cut an interesting guy in Busta Anderson. Here's an in-depth report on him
After 253 picks in the NFL Draft, you aren't going to find players without a lot of faults. GMs are trying to find someone with enough athletic upside who can possibly turn into a contributor with...

But there will be plenty of qualified people floating around after final cuts that could do that.
There must be competition for this guy or no one is going to trade a pick at this time of the year. I'd be surprised the pick is conditional on him making the team.
I mis-typed earlier. Per TBN, ESPN reported Tuesday night that the draft pick was a conditional seventh-rounder. Just like most people would think, it is conditional based on him making the team this year.
