Because we weren't sure if Cardale be healthy enough to play Thursday. Turns out he is so we cut the other guy.

I don't know - I was surprised to see them in the cuts list on NFL.com. CBS says same. I'd guess it was just raw data to both sites.

Wouldn't surprise me if Striker and/or Zimmer was cut early to try and pass them through waivers quickly and stash them on the PS.

It is procedural. If you cut players injured, they revert to IR if nobody claims them. You then can work on an injury settlement.
