    Evander Kane

We should talk about his role this season.
Do we keep him on the top line? Maybe we could even consider him for the 3rd line if Ennis can contribute as top 6.
Do we line him up with Eichel and Samson?
Do we hope he becomes a better team mate on and off the ice?

His role next year will be the Las Vegas Whatevers first pick in the expansion draft.

Give him the year. Heck of a talent, never quite seemed to grow up. Here's hoping he has a good year and keeps his nose clean. If he can do that, you keep him.

Do you take that risk if you're Vegas? If Evander can't behave himself in Buffalo, what chance does he have in LV?

He has a history with Vegas too. During the lockout when the grinders and 4th liners were worrying about paychecks he is taking selfies with huge stacks of cash and splashing it all over the internet. Not really that terrible but an extreme lap in judgement which I think has been the staple for his career.

You're an expansion franchise, you take the risk based on his talent alone.

If it doesn't work, you move on from him after a year or two...it's not like you're gonna be expected to be good in the first two years anyway.

Kane's a top 6 talent and should stay on the top 6 unless he stops producing on the ice. Yes, I'm concerned with his off ice activities but you tell me would you rather have Kane on your top 6 or Matt Moulson? In terms of Ennis he's a wild card but if ask me who's got more talent Kane or Ellis it's Kane by a wide margin. Ultimately I'd love Kane to grow up and move Ennis and something for a top 4 Dman.

    Re: Evander Kane

Here is Kanes game last year.

Carry the puck in 2 feet pass the blue line along the boards... flick a harmless high wrist shot on net which the goalie easily catches and clears or smothers for a faceoff. No play set up...no rebound...never looking to go in deeper and pass to someone else coming in. Over and over and over..

    Re: Evander Kane

kane gives 100% all the time. he is skating and moving. his issue is he thinks he can pull it all off. I agree with night train, the shot from entering the zone looked a lot like pominville's mo. kane needs to grow up and be reliable. and part of that is being a good human being. and then part of it is buying into a system and using your skill to accomplish the team's goal. I don't know if that will happen here. and I don't want to trade him for nothing, so if he wants out, he should at least do the second part so that we can trade him for something useful and let him do the first part in a different town.

That has been his issue for years. He enters the zone, wires a wrister, often high and tries to get it back. You can appreciate the effort on the puck retrieval but as a goal scorer, he doesn't really have a good one-timer and he doesn't really create his own shot well. He usually needs a loose puck from the hash marks in to get his goals. In my opinion, he needs to use his strength to put pressure on the opposing D by taking the puck to the net. He is a tank and should be watching Jamie Benn on how to effectively use that strength to create space and time to fire that shot. But then he has to hit the net.

He needs to put the puck into the pads of the goaltender and create rebounds

Exactly. Specially from that far out. And with O'Reilly and Eichel in my hockey pool more so lol.
