    Saints dilemma : Brees

At 37, he wants a 4 year deal for 100 million, 65-70 million guaranteed.

Would you ? I wouldn't. Not sure he realizes if he plays it out he's heading, at 38 by then, to a new system. He won't be getting a 4 year contract ever again with more than 20 million guaranteed.

Remembering him saying so many times how he was all about team, I hope they let him walk.

Let him walk. The sell-outs, the tv ratings and contracts will continue. Years ago, the Gang of 32 successfully transformed a sport into a bacchanal.

Good luck to them. Good thing Brees is humble and team oriented enough to take a hometown discount.

I think he wanted to be there. and the saints would have had to offer him a franchise tag next year at ~$45MM. so it was a good deal for both sides. he got the money he wanted and the team got the qb without going into cap hell for a team that is largely on decline

I don't think there's any way they'd have tagged him at 45 million, they'd have had to decimate their roster, they're 10 million under projected cap with Brees at 19 million as it stands. The Saints have gone through contortions to support his salary as it is.

It's just my opinion, but I think the "team friendly loyal" Brees is going to run into the common problem at 38-39. In paying him, they won't be able to keep a good team around him. This is where I give Brady credit for understanding to take less for more success.

Yeah well Brady also has a rich wife and millions in endorsements. That's why I don't give him credit. He doesn't need the money.

You don't give him credit because you're just a frownyface.
