    It's official: Shaq is back!

Although technically he was never really here, so I guess he's not back per se, but it rhymed. Sue me.

If we could just get Dareus healthy we'd have a even tougher defense, which would obviously propel us to good things.

What do you guys expect ??

I'm thinking 15-20 snaps and hopefully a sack to get things going.

As for Dareus that mofo better get his act together. That's almost half a season lost already. Enough.

Trade him to a stupid GM for a WR ASAP!...

    He's not needed here...

Not expecting much, maybe a cameo appearance to get his feet wet, more time if they gain handy control of the game in the 2nd half. I'd guess more 10-15 snaps and not much early impact. Lawson isn't so much a huge impact player as he is a solid, versatile one at his best. I mean if it works out well, he'll certainly have his moments over time, but he's not going to be Von Miller or Khalil Mack.

As much as I've learned not to always take Rex at face value, I read him as being genuinely excited. Even if part of it is to encourage Shaq, it's encouraging to me as a fan to see a defensive mind like him that excited, and changing his wording about their plans in that short of a time.

Im not going to make any predictions, but I will say I'm having difficulty remembering the last time I was more excited to see a new Bill make his debut.

I keep asking myself, can his shoulder take a hit.

It was pretty cool seeing Rex as excited as he was. Kind of like a kid on Christmas morning getting the toy he always wanted/been waiting for. I can only imagine he's stoked with the way the defense has finally started playing, and he gets to add another piece to it. I'm sure he'll be fairly geeked-up when Dareus returns as well (hopefully next weekend).

Barring any complications, rotator cuff surgery in the hands of even a decent surgeon almost always leads to a complete resolution. He had one of the best operating on him. It's been 5 months since the surgery. If the pain is gone and there were no setbacks, meaning he's got full range of motion in his shoulder, which I'm sure is the case, he should be better than ever. He played with a bum shoulder all throughout college and I'm sure he held back a little so as to prevent his shoulder from popping out.

This could not be farther from the truth. The shoulder is the most complex major joint in the body to repair - it's actually two joints, the glenohumoral and acromioclavicular joints. There is a lot that goes on in that part of the body with complex combinations of range of motions in flexion, extension and rotational fields - all of those that will bear weight at point in the life of a human (when they lift things, push, pull, etc. Repair of this joint is the most difficult, even in the hands of a specialist, and often is never 100% after intervention. In fact most peole have at least some lost range of motion after even the most successful repair. Talk what you know. You don't know shoulder repair.

I assume that Shaq had arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery. A large prospective study in 2011 concluded that this type of surgery (there are other types of shoulder surgery) was "highly effective and provides durable results 5 years after surgery." Again assuming no complications during the procedure and no setbacks after, he should be fine, if not better than before.

No. HH's sources are Lawson's agents in Atlanta. And they're not doctors or clairvoyants, although they pretend they are.

Not only have I not seen anyone detail exactly what type of surgery he had, I have not seen what the exact injury was - both of which have to do with prognosis.

I thought I read that he had arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery. Could be wrong.

    This source says:

t wasn't until the NFL combine in February when Lawson said tests revealed he had a torn ligament. The Bills were aware of the injury when they selected him with the 19th pick.

Lol!!! Hey I'll take my humble pie. I'm shocked with many he's back. I will say not sure why everyone involved with this is willing to risk another injury by rushing him back. And btw this type of surgery doesn't usually result in a 100% resolution.

I'm happy to be corrected more than once here because I'm a Clenson and Bills fan so I'll be rooting for him!

Or was it closer to a full tear? Half tear? Like that. Granted we don't find out those details often, so I will just have to agree to watch and wait. But I have a lot of up close exposure to people after such procedures and the truth is no one ever (or very rarely) regains full use of the joint. But he's young and athletic and has great doctors and training staff, so maybe he can. Hope so.

About what? Ligament vs rotator cuff (tendon)? They have not been very specific about the exact injury. Usually if its a labrum tear, they say so. I didn't hear that with Lawson. Nevertheless the prognosis changes somewhat. It sounds like he's ready to go though. So that's good news.
