Bench Kane
He's beyond a distraction at this point. He's bringing down an injury ravaged team.
Sabres ‘need more from Evander Kane,’ says Bylsma
Dan Bylsma issued a challenge to Evander Kane following Saturday’s loss to the New Jersey Devils.
Kane took two penalties Saturday, including a hooking infraction in the offensive zone in the third period, and was removed from the top line in a 4-2 loss to New Jersey.
He was also in penalty trouble the previous night against the Devils, which resulted in an overtime loss for Buffalo.
Bylsma didn’t have much to say on the subject. But the message from the coach was clear: “Need more from Evander,” he told reporters, when asked about the decision to move Kane off the top line.
In four games, Kane has yet to record a point, with 10 penalty minutes. He did miss 11 games with broken ribs from a scary fall into the boards. The injury and lack of production represents a bad start to the season on the ice for Kane, who has been tied to trade speculation for months.

Re: Bench Kane
Over the summer, there were plenty of trade rumors with the Minnesota Wild, most likely regarding one of their top left handed defenseman: Jonas Brodin, and Marco Scandella. With Evander Kane's value being on the low end right now, I fully expect rumors to heat up again regarding Kane around the trade deadline, and carry into next summer. By then, the Minnesota Wild might still might make sense as a potential partner to swap out some pieces. There seem to be fans around the league who honestly think Evander Kane can be given away from Buffalo right now, and given how the Sabres need Kane right now to push for a playoff spot, this is far from the truth. However that is not to say his value hasn't taken a hit over the summer; first with his legal issues, and now with his injury. Evander Kane does not have little to no value, and the Sabres will not just give him away.
