    2017 draft...players I find interesting

I started running the simulator for mock drafts, it's obviously way too early, bowls, combine, injuries ahead, stocks rising and falling, draft order not set, but I never pay attention to prospects until around now and use the simulator to learn about them.

A few players I find interesting.

CB's Teez Tabor (junior undeclared atm) early, and Rasul Douglas (later). Tabor (Florida) talks the smack, has the skills, was suspended a game for socking a teammate, changed his name from Jalen to Teez, and is an excellent CB. Douglas (West Virginia) is a solid character achiever on a mission.

OL Ethan Pocic (center, guard for a while ?), Taylor Moton (OT). Pocic (LSU) is a beast, pass blocks and mauls, might be able to play tackle or guard for now or even later. Moton (Western Michigan) is another beast with hunger for RT, powerful young man who can squat 570 and press 400.

SS Xavier Woods (Louisiana Tech), later rounds. Smart film junkie. Playmaker, QB's the defense, 5'11 but 219, he's a hitter too.

Another guy I'm finding sitting there a lot is Jabrill Peppers (LB/DB Michigan). Peppers I'm familiar with, he gets Heismann (no I don't think so) hype.

I was nuts over Su'a Cravens last year though not in the 1st. 2nd maybe, 3rd certainly if sitting there. I think he's doing pretty well as the Redskins learn how to use him. Cravens was a little bigger (6'1", 228), saw him as a SS/LB hybrid in a Ryan defense.

Peppers is smaller (6'1" 207 pre combine), bigger than Aaron Williams (6' 199), but a much better DB-ish possibilty (has even played press corner), and one of the best athletes. Has SS written all over him for the NFL, imho.

I was thinking there's no way he'll be there when we draft, but NFL teams get funny in the first round about players without a solid, certain position most often, the first round is your money pick, and he just might be. If he's sitting there (and I don't think he will be), could Whaley/Ryan pass him up or should they ?

(yeah I know, sure and probably for an RB or WR)

Pepper is an option, I just worry about his fit. I also worry somewhat about him being another LaRon Landry, but he has much better cover and ball skills than Landry ever did.

You almost have to worry about any fit with this team. Some teams develop and use talent, the staff connecting with their players, some teams just try and plug them in and see if they stand or fall, expecting them to connect with staff. He could be a Woodson for some team, a Landry for others.

Unfortunately, we probably know we could easily make him into a Bryan Scott instead of either. Some team will get a great value in him. Us, probably not. I keep pretending though.
