Alouettes workout former NFL quarterback Josh Freeman: report

The 29-year-old Freeman attended the Calgary Stampeders mini-camp this spring and was on the team’s exclusive negotiation list since September, 2015. But the 29-year-old did not show well enough to earn an invite to Stamps training camp and was subsequently dropped off the neg list.

The Alouettes currently have 34-year-old Darian Durant slated as their starting quarterback, though he suffered an injury in training camp and did not appear in the team’s first pre-season game last week (he is back practicing, however.) The team also has second-year man Vernon Adams, free agent pick up Jacory Harris and rookie Matthew Shiltz under contract.

Freeman was a first-round pick, 17th overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2009. He started 61 games over seven seasons with three different teams, compiling 81 touchdowns, 68 interceptions, 13,873 yards and a 77.6 quarterback rating. His last start came in January 2016 with the Indianapolis Colts and he was out of pro football last season.

Political correctness ( or cancel culture as it is called today) is a doctrine fostered by a delusional ,illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by MSM which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

Boy - he showed promise as a rookie and a kid but just fell apart after that.

Well the young experiment failed, so we will see what happens here. Normally NFL QB's can't cut it up here.

He would help TO, not winning games but putting people in the seats. You would think Toronto after getting shafted and humiliated by the bills and the NFL, they would support the only team that can actually win them a championship.

Quarterback Josh Freeman has no current ties to any CFL team.

The Redblacks added Freeman to their negotiation list on Saturday, June 17, but he’s since been dropped by the club.

That happened after the 29-year-old worked out for Montreal and he was spotted at the Alouettes final pre-season game. The move was a clear attempt by the Redblacks to keep Freeman from signing in Montreal. All’s fair in love, war, and the neg list, but the interest in Freeman has waned.

Freeman’s first foray into Canadian football was attending Calgary Stampeders mini-camp from April 29 to May 1, but he was not offered a contract by the Stamps.

The Kansas State product was a first-round pick, 17th overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2009. He started 61 games over seven seasons with three different teams, compiling 81 touchdowns, 68 interceptions, 13,873 yards and a 77.6 quarterback rating. His last start came in January 2016 with the Indianapolis Colts and he was out of pro football completely last season.
