    Opening Day depth chart

Here's what I'd like to see as an opening day roster.

    Nylander - ROR - Okposo
    Kane - Eichel - Jagr
    Pouliot - Reinhart - Pominville
    Girgensons - Larson - Bailey
    Moulson

    Antipin - Risto
    Scandella - Bogosian
    McCabe - Beaulieu
    Gorges

    Lehner
    Johnson

Firs line... do you let Nylander develop for one more year in Rochester with grinders or let him play with a couple of well seasoned vets who will take him under their wing? I could go either way, but unfortunately we have nothing at LW outside of Kane. Nylander brings some much needed speed to this mix as well.

Second line... bring in Jagr on a one year deal with the promise of playing with EK9 and JE15. That line would put up a lot of points this year. A lot!

Third line... let's see if Reinhart can handle the pivot. He's not proven to be a dynamic winger, and how much of his production is on the power play? Put him between two vets and let's see if he can pilot a dominant 3rd line?

Fourth line... two physical wingers and a more than solid 4th pivot returning from a gruesome UE injury.

D... Antipin with Risto??? What??? Skill with skill! Get this pair out there with Eichel line and let the fireworks commence. North south hockey and in a hurry. Scandella might really be able help to kick start Bogo's career. Let this pairing run with the ROR line.

    Re: Opening Day depth chart

I think I would be worried that Jagr couldn't keep up with the other 2. He doesn't have the speed he used to so has little value off the rush. He would be great once you got established in the zone as no one protects the puck like he does but I think it is a detriment to that line to be playing with him. Maybe switch Pominville and Jagr.

People have been waiting almost 10 years for Bogo to kick start his career. I think you will be hoping for something that may just never materialize.

How about we forget Jagr, because he'll never come to Buffalo.

Then put Reinhart in that spot. And how about Matt Duschene? Colorado is eager to get rid of him. Pegula can afford him. The player is eager to show the last half of last season was a misnomer.

Jagr wouldn't come here to play with Jack and EK9? I find that hard to believe.

What are giving up for Duschene?

Doesn't look like a play-off team to me.

    Re: Opening Day depth chart

Nylander needs Rochester. He was the youngest player in the AHL last season and it showed at times. The kid could still be in juniors and if he wasnt eligible for AHL play, probably still would be there. Let him develop more in Rochester and give him time. Put vanek in his spot if you believe him being in Rochester thins out the wings too much. Or Baptiste finally gets his shot.

As for bogo, I'm really curious how he will do when he's allowed to skate the puck (his strength) over passing the puck out of his end.

I like the thought of Pominville playing in that spot... hadn't thought of that before.

Would certainly open another spot on the right side for Fasching or Baptiste.

I was just think that he might have the wheels to keep up. Speed is a big part of Kane and Eichel's game.

Unfortunately with what you are paying him, it would probably be Moulson though.

That is at best a 11th team in the Eastern Conference team

Defense will be much better than last year. Top two lines are short a winger each.

bottom six is suspect at best.

Hard to disagree with you. Best case scenario is 8.

    Re: Opening Day depth chart

The reason he isn't gone from Colorado is the asking price. Do you think they would be happy with a cast off and bottom pairing defenceman? With that package you would probably need 2 1st round draft picks. Maybe the price will lower over time but if that is all they get for Duchesne, Sakic will be fired within a day.

Sakic isn't giving him up highly drafted defensman salary cap dump who has never panned out and an entirely replaceable 3rd or 4th line forward.

and who gives a **** if Girgensons is happy. What is he producing?

I expect girgensons to rebound playing under housley. He was not used right under bylsma. Neither was bogo. I hope they both rebound, even if slightly

Yeah I think both can obviously improve with new direction.

That being said... Sakic isn't giving up Duschene for these two pieces.

    Of course you do.
