Looks like it's going down: TSN's Bob McKenzie just tweeted that Eichel's deal will be 8 years with an AAV of $10.25 million.
In addition, per other reports, Jack is expected to be named the Sabres' new captain.
Interesting, because SXM NHL Radio said the negotiations were on hold. Of course, I suspected they didn't know what they were talking about when one thought Murray was still the GM and they discussed the Sabres' blue line without mentioning Antipin.

Kane will be trade deadline bait if we aren't in a position to make the playoffs- he's walking if we don't. He's the only major 18-19 FA. Pominville is the only major 19-20 FA and he'll probably be done by then anyway.

Well, you want more from a guy making 10 million a year in hockey. But I don't doubt Eichel is willing to give it, and I think the Sabres are finally meaning to support him giving it, so I think we're getting somewhere. I'm pleased he seems to want to be here to get us somewhere, and I think maybe we just might.
I'm happy with it, kind of intangibly feels right. Feels like he belongs here and will one day join our legendary sports heroes.
