I just look at what David Pasternak signed for with the Bruins and I laugh at this deal.
If Matthews even remains the same, not even improves, he will eclipse this deal if he wants it.
Funny how that happened, go figure.

The Bruins didn't tank for the better part of 2 seasons to get Pasternak. We did...and we got Eichel. (And Reinhart before that.)
David is not being asked to shoulder the burden of carrying the B's. Jack IS being asked to do that for Buffalo.
It was 2 & 1/2 years and that strategy has now led to an overpayment of a player simply due to his draft ranking.
