cap friendly
Kane $5,250,000
Neal $5,000,000
both UFA after this season, Neal played for Pens and Predators
Sabresinsider makes stuff up. He's not a real source
If we're trading him, it's because we don't think he'll re-sign and we want something in return. Why would we trade him for a different UFA?
This is GM 101 ****, so if it was anybody but DDW I wouldn't have to explain this.

Yeah if you are going to pay one of them, pay the young guy. Or are they worried that the other contracts will force them to just get a cheaper option to not have to pay another guy?
Do you understand anything about the cap? It's $75 million this year. $250k is one third of one percent of the available cap space. A trade would be cap neutral, not cap friendly.
Let me try to put this in terms you understand: you win $7500 on a scratch off lotto ticket. On your way to cash the ticket in, you put on a jacket that you haven't worn since last winter and find $2.50 in the pocket.
Is the $2.50 going to make any difference whatsoever in how you use the $7500?
If you still don't understand, I can't help you because there really is no way to simplify further.
Kane is also off to a torrid start. Flash in a pan? Or did he finally put together his game?
