It reinforces poor work habits in the very young guys you need to build your team around.

I have asked the same about Ristolainen.

Reminds me more of Tyler Myers than Niklas Lidstrom.

I understand he needed some time to grow into his role as a #1 NHL defender, but at this point he is officially behind in his development.

So here's the deal...

Murray has left this team an absolute mess...

The Sabres will be forced to trade EK9 in spite of him being the only one besides Jack and Poms that is producing. #1 EK9 probably doesn't want to be here. He's a party boy and Buffalo is NOT a destination. #2 We can't afford to take on another high cost long-term deal.

For as much as I like ROR, the game is RAPIDLY changing. It's all about speed and skill. ROR is NOT a speed player and is long-term at $8 mil per.

Okposo is 5 more years at $6 million. After he pots 10-15 goals this year, people are going lose patience fast. Another contract that is going to hurt for next 5 years.

Reinhart is a bust.

So outside of Poms and Eichel... this team has ZERO offense.

Riato is struggling to become a true #1 And had a multi year deal, and Lehner is complete garbage.

The Sabres aren't making the playoffs anytime in the next 3 years.

ROR, I was on the fence with him too. I realize he's a good player, but like you said, not speedy. But last night he showed his willingness to use other tools, and his game seems to be changing ever so slightly, becoming slightly meaner and using his body more. If he does, he will find a way to adapt to a faster game. The offense is starting to click again for him, and that's gonna add alot

On the Sabres slow start to the season:
"Phil and his staff are trying to interact with these guys away from the rink. Figure out who needs a little bit of a pat on the back, versus who needs a harsher tone. We're showing glimpses of that type of team Phil wants to have, but consistency isn't there yet."
