Is this allowed under the current CBA?

    -------------------------------------------------------
As a result, the Bills' defensive linemen have been putting in extra time studying videotape to find something -- or perhaps multiple things -- that have escaped Tice's view. They've also stayed on the field after practice doing extra work to address issues that have helped lead to being shredded through the air.
"And it wasn't just the D-line that was out there: linebackers, the safeties, the corners," Hughes said. "You could certainly see the entire unit is really taking it personal, the way we played last week. Offense and special teams certainly bailed us out, but we want to be the reason why we win games, so we want to help them out as well."

Individuals work (like a QB throwing to a guy) is OK. But team work like the entire D?

My understanding is that players can do extra work on their own they just can't have a coach present or instructing them.

If the players are doing it on their own, and the coaches have no involvement, the CBA doesn't apply. It only governs what teams can force players to do as part of their employment. It doesn't cover anything players domunder their own volition. They can practice til midnight if they want, as long as the coaches aren't there and it's their own choice.

Well this is a breath of fresh air. Imagine players that want to win so badly they put in extra work. Imagine teams that, even though they won, still find flaws and try to correct them to get better.

Somewhere in the upper office window, McDermott is looking down to the field to see who has bought in ....

This is freakin awesome to see the players caring and doing this on their own.

This team may fail to make the playoffs and may even finish below .500 due to inexperience, injury, and a brutal schedule but the culture has changed.
