Most definitely. They will have to eat the unamortized signing bonus and any other guaranteed money. IIRC, it comes out to about $24M over 2 seasons.

It looks like only $5M in savings this year and $2M in savings in 2018, but it gets him totally off the Dead Cap numbers after 2018.

Even after the bonus is taken into account, the Bills save $8M cap over 2017 & 2018. The 2017 remaining cap can be rolled over to 2018... In essence, that's $8M extra for 2018.

The 'Golden Corral' buffet in Jax will be taking a big "hit"

http://www.wgr550.com/articles/opini...be-swayed-planIt’s not just that the team traded a player as talented as Marcell Dareus, or that they only got a conditional sixth-round draft pick in return for him. Or even that they did it with the willingness to eat $24 million in dead salary cap space over the next season and a half. It’s that they did all of that while actually winning games and having a real chance to end their seventeen year playoff drought. They traded a player who is good enough to help them do that. Yet they did it with the conviction that it won't change the positive direction the season is already going.

The problem that I see with this move: good luck finding someone equal to or better than Dareus for $2.3 million.

We've been questioning their moves all season and their currently a very competitive 4-2. Management has earned the benefit of the doubt from me.
You can call me streetkings
They haven't earned **** yet.
2002- Started 5-3, ended 8-8
2003- Started 2-0 with two huge victories, finished 6-10
2005- Won the first game and everyone was excited about Losman, finished 5-11
2008- Started 4-0, finished 7-9
2011- Won the first 3 and got to 5-2, finished 6-10 (lost 7 straight and 8 of the last 9)
2014- Won the first 2, got to 5-3, finished with a winning record of 9-7 but still missed the playoffs
2016- Lost the first 2, won 4 straight to get to 4-2, still finished 7-9
I know, I know. Different coaches, different FO, etc.
But this team has proven time and time again that complete morons can put together a good six game stretch. Six games proves nothing.

You know what's really interesting about that list? Not a single example cited involves a first year head coach and staff, all occurred after a guy/staff had been in place at least one full season prior.

As of today the Bills are $30 million under the cap assuming a cap of $168 million for 2018... Kyle Williams... Jordan Matthews..Preston Brown.. EJ Gaines.. are all FAs..

Quite the contrast between the Bills and the Steelers... The Bills as of now have the most dead cap for 2018 $18.6 million for all NFL teams.. But 19 NFL teams have less cap space than the Bills.. The Steelers only have $660 000 in dead cap space for 2018 yet they have $178 million in committed contracts so they are $10 million over the projected cap of $168 million

Well I think you can subtract whatever Martavis Bryant is making. He's going to be gone ASAP.
The Chiefs are almost $10 million over the cap... Alex Smith counts $20.6 Million against the chiefs cap... Trading him they would only count $3.6 million in dead cap and it would save them $17 million
