Yup. Rose Bowl last game. Ryan Day to take over.

    From the Cincinnati Enquirer:

Ohio State football: Urban Meyer to retire after Rose Bowl

    He will be back...eventually.
Two jobs to watch for him, Notre Dame and Cleveland Browns.

Well, at least your insanity is consistent.

Why would the Irish who are going to smack Clemson in the mouth in the Semi Final want to change from the Head Coach who got them there?

    W-O-W!!!

Did you just crawl out of a time capsule?

    Notre Dame is for real.

In any event, Meyer was pushed and he did not retire voluntarily.

It was the promise he made to the Admin during his troubles this summer.

It was an unselfish thing to do but he was definitely fired.

It's tough engaging the football clowns here...

By the way I have a futures ticket on ND to win the NC, 50/1225.
If they can win two in a row I would be happy about it.
    Just can't see it.

The man is suffering from excruciating headaches due to an inoperable arachnoid brain cyst.

I never read anything about him making such a promise, Or him being fired. Do you have any proof?

I'd like to see it, since I follow OSU and I haven't come across such.

Saw an article on ESPN that provided a timeline of his problems over the past year or so.

They cut a deal that they would say he retired due to health to avoid turfing Meyer in the summer.

This was not a handoff to Day but rather a fumble recovery.

Can't ask for much more than that if you're an Ohio State fan. He did his job.

Spiked, if there was truth to a "deal" being struck as you say ESPN said, it would have been front page news all across Ohio and the networks and other news outlets would be lit up.

    ESPN speculated wrongly.

His job was not in any danger.

If you watched enough OSU games this season, you would have seen Meyers collapse to his knees in pain on the sideline several times.

Re: Urban Meyer set to retire

Day is in a Lincoln Riley (Oklahoma) situation.

Young guy (39) taking over for a big name coach. On staff. Players know him and like him.

I doubt recruiting will suffer much and Day needs to be his own guy. 5-11 215 lb. dual threat QB Tate Martell may be the next starter. He can run and throw, a completely different makeup than Haskins, who leaves for the draft.

Re: Urban Meyer set to retire

Well, it didn't hurt their recruiting too much. Lost a couple and still need a couple more. Rankings are based on quantity. Then there is this from the Athletic..

the Buckeyes’ 92.16 average player rating is third in the country, behind only Alabama (94.04) and Georgia (93.71). This metric averages the quality of the player and doesn’t weigh class quantity. Ohio State doesn’t have the quantity this cycle, but it has the quality, which is why this class should be viewed as a success.

They are already over loaded with Freshman and Soph. from the last 2 years

If you're able to bring in Justin Fields as a transfer that would be a coup.

I did chuckle that Meyer was going to teach a class on leadership at Ohio State next year.
