Re: DT Jeffery Simmons - Mississippi State Thread

So I just recently saw the viral video from a few years back of Simmons repeatedly punching a woman in the head as she lays on the ground. She apparently got into a fight with his sister, and he initially tried to break it up before participating. I don't really know all the facts, but here's the video:
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/video/ne...und-fight.html

How much is this going to impact Simmons draft stock? No doubt he seems really talented, and I've seen him mocked to the Bills here and there, but I have a hard time believing he's even going to be on their board. I can't really see them using a top 10 pick on a guy and then having to address something like this. Especially considering this draft seems loaded with top DT talent.

Wasn't this from when he was in high school? No excuse really but he's kept his nose clean discreet. I like the kid as a prospect and wouldn't move him down my board yet he'd be on a short leash.

Yes it was in high school, but have you seen the video? It's really bad and the NFL team who picks him is going to have a bit of a PR issue to deal with immediately. Simmons shouldn't be punished for the rest of his life for an incredibly bad decision, but nobody is going to forget about it either.

I would say he's an easy top 10 talent that you may sitting there around 20 due to the character concerns.

That has been known for years.
He was protecting his sister who was actually in a fight.
Yes he obviously went overboard but he was a 18 yr old kid. From what I know he hasn't had any problems since.
I would take him at #9, but I doubt Mrs. Pegula will go for that.

No excuse. IQ of a doorknob.

    He's a dt doesn't matter.

And I won't bury the kid yet for one mistake he made while in HS.
So far he's been clean since. If he pulls this again then totally different view.

Simmons tore his act while training for the combine. Not good.
Take him off the list for #9

Correction,he was already not invited to the combine but tore acl while training.
Maybe we can take a chance with him with a later pick. He will probably miss most of next season.

A line right through his name.

Other candidates without the bad background and injury rehab.

I'd look to take him in Round 4 but someone could take him sooner.

If he was still available that late I would take him. They said he possibly could return later in the season.

I'd look at him in Round 2 or 3. You're talking top 10 talent at a huge potential value.

I mean Jaylon Smith had his knee basically explode in ND's final game a few years ago and Dallas still took him at 34. CB Sidney Jones tore his ACL during his pro day and Philly took him at 43 two years ago.

Valid and will admit I wanted him preinjury so Round 2 isn't out of question when bring up the other examples, I guess I was wishing he'd fall further.

Re: DT Jeffery Simmons - Mississippi State Thread

Simmons also cannot go to the combine because of off-field issues:

Mississippi State defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons and Colorado State receiver Preston Williams are the other two players ineligible for the Combine because of off-field misconduct.
