    Starting over..... again....

Due to some medical issues, I had to stop running in 2015. So, I focused on race-walking and strength training. ST was going great and I got clearance to slowly start adding some running back in and BOOM! More (different) medical stuff. This time was tougher, I no longer had the strength much less energy to ST or do much walking. One mile would take me almost 30 minutes and then I would sleep for hours afterwards.

Fast forward to March of this year, I've regained enough strength/energy that I officially re-started my base building to start running again. Yesterday, I managed 5 miles! It took 1-1/2 hours, and I'm certain that I looked like I may need medical care.... but it felt good to be out there. As far as ST goes, for now I'm just doing some basic stretching and body weight stuff at home.

My next Half-Marathon is in September. :)

I hiked a lower M-Hill loop that had a 524 ft elevation gain today after work (and some pesky chores). I could definitely tell that my left leg was working much harder than my right!

Just a link with some information about the Park and some pictures of the area

    5.3 miles in 1:33:05

My splits were fairly consistent and the run went well overall. I'm going to add another 30 seconds to my run intervals for the shorter training runs this week and then see how the next long run goes (Mondays are my scheduled long run days).

My first 2 hour run in years.... then I did some yardwork. I don't think I'm going to do much more today lol.

The humidity has to be an additional bonus, like elevation training! (We're soooo not used to humidity out here!)

    Re: Starting over..... again....

Another two hour run done! I probably shouldn't have worn my new shoes for it though lol. A small hot spot on my left foot, but other than that, they felt good. The humidity is killer, but I completed 6.7 miles.

Exercise is great, but past age 45 or so it should really be low impact for the sake of your joints.

If my doctors, including a rheumatologist, are okay with my "running"... then I'll go with it.

AND HEY! Are you implying that I'm getting OLD?!!?!?!

    Re: Starting over..... again....

8.5 miles today! I was a bit faster than I planned for the first 4 miles, so that made the last half of the run more of a challenge. LOL

Damn, that's pretty good adding a mile-and-a-half in a week.

Thanks! I'm doing a time-based training plan this time-around and yesterday I did a 30 minute increase. I walked most of that 30 minutes... Next Monday (next long run day), I'll add in some run intervals and see how it feels.
