Due to some medical issues, I had to stop running in 2015. So, I focused on race-walking and strength training. ST was going great and I got clearance to slowly start adding some running back in and BOOM! More (different) medical stuff. This time was tougher, I no longer had the strength much less energy to ST or do much walking. One mile would take me almost 30 minutes and then I would sleep for hours afterwards.
Fast forward to March of this year, I've regained enough strength/energy that I officially re-started my base building to start running again. Yesterday, I managed 5 miles! It took 1-1/2 hours, and I'm certain that I looked like I may need medical care.... but it felt good to be out there. As far as ST goes, for now I'm just doing some basic stretching and body weight stuff at home.
My next Half-Marathon is in September. :)
