Happy 90th Anniversary to the Buffalo Central Terminal

I found this picture on Ebay... it's a picture of the grand opening of the terminal, the people are on the plaza photo is courtesy of The Buffalo Evening News

Grand opening June 22nd. Grand opening includes Chamber of Commerce Gala attended by 2,200 people, the largest event in Buffalo at that time. At 2 p.m., the first train departs from the terminal: the Eastbound Empire State Express.

It needs millions to bring it up to spec. Best of luck with that.

What's with rest belt cities love of old train stations? Buffalo and Detroit both have abandoned stations that are extremely famous and beloved

It's honestly a grand place that gives you a sense of something that slipped away. Ever checked it out ? It's only the location bothers most people, but they honestly should be able to make it a focal point of some renewal if it got enough attention. I think if anyone actually goes there it's automatic to think "they should be able to do something with this."

Main problem is that they keep trying to fix it "sort of" without any context. It probably has the potential to be one of the most glorious places in the city when you stop and think the grain silos actually gained some status and they recreated the cobblestone district because of the ruins of an old port structure.
