    I'm done as a pastor

After 40 years, I preached my last sermon as pastor of a church this morning. I'm sure I'll fill in for other pastors when they go on vacation or have medical issues etc. I might take a short term interim position, but I am officially and fully retired!
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

I had a bout with lung cancer a couple years ago, (stage 2) but to this point it has shown no sign of recurrence. I'm not going to go out and run a marathon any time soon, but I feel pretty good, and I can do most of what I enjoy doing. I'm working on cleaning out my gutters at the moment. The four silver maple trees in our yard put out enough seeds in the spring, the gutters need to be cleaned out in late spring/early summer as well as after the leaves drop in November.

I remember your postings. It's good to see you a couple years later cleaning out gutters, officially and fully retired.

    Congrats.

I too am officially retired, but I do odds and ends for my old employer to keep the brain ticking over.

We had a boat 9 years ago, and sold it because there was no lake where we could dock and store it when we moved. We owned the boat (24 foot pontoon boat) for 3 years. The summer before we sold it, it rained like every other day and we had more days when the temperature topped out in the 60s than reached the 80s. The annual cost for docking and storing the boat was over $1200 dollars and we used it like 3 times that last summer. We're not near enough to a lake now to make it worthwhile. We're 10 miles from Lake Ontario, but there is a small craft advisory like 5 or 6 days a week on Lake Ontario, and we couldn't afford a big enough boat to make owning one on Lake Ontario worth it. Bottom line: no plans on owning a boat any time soon, though I could probably be talked into a recreational kayak.

    1. Retire
    2. Buy a boat
    3. Die 2 months later

    Don't buy a boat.

    God bless.

Welcome to the retirement community. I'm 2 years this August. Loving it.
