    Remaining Free Agents 2019

As of July 3, 2019 this is how free agency fell.

Anyone on the TBD list who would fit will with the needs of the Sabres? Anyone you'd like to see the team sign off this list? Thoughts on Pominville?

    Here's my pitch: Justin Williams

    Age 37

    Played all 82 games last season: 23 goals/30 assists = 53 points.

Negotiating to stay in Carolina, but not signed yet.

I wanted Brassard when he was a Ranger and scoring important goals. That was a couple of years ago. What I've read of him recently - I don't want to touch him. He was a plague in Pittsburgh.

    Re: Remaining Free Agents 2019

Add to my "look at list":

    Justin Williams
    Michael Ferland
    Ryan Dzingel
    Jason Pominville

    • Ryan Dzingel – W: Dzingel scored 26 goals and 56 points in 78 games with Ottawa and Columbus. 22 of those goals were scored with the Senators, but he had a difficult time adjusting to the Blue Jackets after they acquired him near the trade deadline. The 27-year-old is fast and he can score. The big question is whether or not he can surpass the 25-goal mark again in the near future.

    • Micheal Ferland – W: Ferland turned down a big extension from the Carolina Hurricanes during the season and it might end up costing him some money in the end. He’s one of the few big bodies on the market that can put the puck in the net. Ferland scored 17 goals and 40 points in 71 games with the ‘Canes in 2018-19.

I would add Joe Thornton, but he'll never come to Buffalo. Probably would not leave California at all.

Dzingel is the top guy on my list because of agent and ability to play Center. Yet if really want to make a splash I'd say make an offersheet to Brayden Point. Yet we have to do something as this is feeling like the Darcy Regier Sabres no moves era.

I think he could be a decent stopgap at a reasonable price.

He was bounced from not one, but two teams last year. Hard pass.

Did the whole NHL stop free agency after the first day? Jeesh talk about snoozing the last two days.

Turris is now expendable (due to Duchene signing) and has struggled. It would be a good way out for him and a chance to come to Buffalo and establish himself as a 2nd line center.

Dzingel would be just as productive, is younger & faster and would be a lot cheaper.

The more I look at brassard, the more i get swipes reservations. Part of me wonders of he can get back what he lost, but man. Last year..... woof

Furthermore, at even strength, it appears Duchene will be slotted into the second-line role and get around the same ice time as in Columbus. That second line may include Filip Forsberg at times. However, projections suggest Mikael Granlund and Kyle Turris for now. Those could change.
