USNWT and the All England Club

Two of the most notable regularly held events in women's sports (World Cup soccer and Wimbledon tennis championship) creating some pretty big stories regardless of gender (USA going for 4 in a row, Coco Gauff's incredible debut and run) have been being held the past couple of weeks.

Why hasn't there been a thread posted about them before this one?

    Women win.

Nice tweets Trump. That's a PR battle you will NEVER win.

    US sports hierarchy:

    Football
    Basketball
    Baseball
    Hockey
    Combat sports- boxing, MMA
    Auto racing
    Golf
    Horse racing

Everything else is a tie for last. That’s why.

Yeah, half of that ^ list deserves to be in the 'tied for last' category as well.

I'm not a soccer fan but I will acknowledge it's growth with the next generation. It's not imagined.

It's also not done, right now there are US TV rights to all five of the major European soccer leagues (Premier League - NBC; La Liga, Ligue 1 - BeIn Sports; Bundesliga - Fox Sports & Serie A - ESPN) in addition to lower leagues having streaming rights bought by US companies (primarily ESPN+). There is hardly a weekend all year that you can't find live soccer action somewhere.

The popularity is increasing, but participation is not keeping up. The cost of playing soccer (especially at the higher levels) can be pretty high and that's hurting some of youth participation. I haven't pulled the TV ratings in a while, but I'd venture to guess they've probably improved depending on the league.

I'd put soccer fifth just behind Hockey and I don't think there is much distance between the two.

I wish the Men's National Team would take a ****ing cue and learn how to be great from the women.
