    Re: Clowney

Clowney just wants to make as much money as possible.

He will give it 100% in the first year of his contract playing hurt if necessary.

After that, I expect him to coast and miss games over little bruises.

Why? Way too much for a Clown(ey).
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

I looked a couple of hours ago and all the mainstream news sites are saying Miami, Seattle or Philly. Haven't seen anything about the Bills except what was posted here.

He can't make as much money as possible. He can only sign the tag.

I also don't get where this idea that he's lazy or soft comes from him. Houston fans love him and say he's undervalued and are appalled that this is happening. I trust local fans.

Fans have a tendency to discount players who decide not to come to their team like they were the problem. I’m surprised we couldn’t get Mack here but throwing 2-1st rounders to get him was pricey. You’d figure we could get Mack based on his UB experience but to no avail. Mack was probably the only player that no one disputed his talent or abilities, especially after watching him help the Bears.

I believe it was the knock against him coming out of college.

    Re: Clowney

Jadeveon Clowney became a monster when the Texans made him an outside linebacker

Jadeveon Clowney is finally the player we all expected him to be thanks to a confluence of events that put him in his natural position.

    Re: Clowney

Want Seahawks to trade for Jadeveon Clowney? It's even more problematic than it may seem

Clowney couldn’t be traded until he reports to the Texans and signs his franchise-tag tender.

Seahawks fans are about begging for their team to take the issue off the Texans’ hands and deal for Clowney. Now. Before the first game against Cincinnati.

Here’s why it is unlikely. That is, unless coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider suddenly act counter to much of what they’ve done for Seattle the last decade, and want to go going forward:

Any team trading for Clowney now is getting a rental player for four months before he would become eligible for the big bucks he wants in the open market of free agency. This is not a Frank Clark situation.
Trading for Clowney is likely to cost any acquiring team a top draft choice plus a player who could start right away for Houston to fill a pressing need. The Texans have two: left tackle and running back.

They’ve been looking for a left tackle since Duane Brown got mad at them for placing a franchise tag on him in 2017. Brown eventually burned so many Houston bridges the Texans traded him to the Seahawks. That was in October 2017. It was done with the Seahawks telling Brown at the time of the deal they intended to sign him to a long-term contract after he played out his tagged year.

They did. Brown signed a $36.5 million, three-year deal with Seattle in July 2018. He says he wants to retire as a Seahawk.

Yet Carroll and Schneider still felt stung by deal for Brown entering this spring’s draft, when they lacked that traded second-round choice and began with a league-low four picks.

    Re: Clowney

I think that JC is tried to get paid like a DE when heís a LB as well, so couldnít the price for his tag go up several million as well if thatís the case ??

Clowney to me is exactly that, a prima donna picking who he goes to and demanding a kings ransom for average performance. I pass. He's a money grab at this point. Bad gut feel with this guy. McD would never tolerate his self elevation nor would what we're building here. He's a bad fit.

The difference is 1.7M but they tagged him as DE/OLB so I think that fight is still coming if he decides to sign the tender.

Clowney is going to pass up ~$1 Million a regular-season game ?? That would be crazy.
