Question What's Going On With Allen's Deep Throws???...

Allen has come long ways from when he first started, and it's no doubt that he's shown improvement each week...

His short and medium throws look much better than they did last season...and his running ability is unquestionable...

The problem I have is that his bombs have looked so horrible ever since he's been here...they don't even come close to hitting his receivers...

Missed another easy TD to Brown yesterday...I understand he still ran for the TD, but what good is having speed when you can't take advantage of it?...

    Am I wrong?

I think he needs more time to adjust to the speed of Brown. I think he's overthrowing him because he thinks he has to. It's all timing. Also, the overthrows have all been straight down the field, rather than at an angle. Much harder to judge the distance and lead appropriately.

It's like punishment for having such a strong arm. With most QBs, when making a throw that far downfield, they just throw it to the limit of their arm. If Josh does that, he might hurt one of the ushers in the end zone seats.

Needs to wait a tad second longer or put more air under the ball or gun it straight to the receiver... Either one would work

I vote for the "put more air under it" option. Gives the receiver the best chance to adjust to the ball. Josh can throw rainbows that can't be picked unless he's throwing into double coverage

    That's a really great point.

I'm not too worried about it, as long as he keeps trying he's going to start hitting on them and even the misses make the defense back off and respect the deep ball.

Airing it out has other beneficial effects i'll leave it there.

We would all love a few more bomb completions ..... that's coming next ........ sooner the better of course.

Chemistry... the game speed with pads is different than practice... these guys will get more in sync as the season progresses.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Who cares... give me 75 and 98 yard methodical drives any day over the occasional home run ball

Why not both? Especially when your QB has one of the strongest arms in the NFL.

I’m enjoying the methodical drives... all we had last year was gun and legs.

Josh gets his short game dialed up with touch & then he plays 2 real time games with his new WR & there’s a problem ? Bills fans would complain about anything, even long drives for TD’s.

I’m still bitching about blue end zones and a bit annoyed with white helmets but I long for the early 90s

My point exactly a few deep connections changes the defense to so much else being opened up and those long time consuming drives we all enjoy are made easier ...... taking the top off does more than just taking the top off.

It never occurred to me, until this past week, that Met Life Stadium (aka Josh Allen Stadium) rolls up it's blue end zone after a Giants game and replaces it with a black/green one for Jets games.

Why don't the Bills have an alternate red end zone?

Why can't we have nice things?

BTW, Allen sometimes has to ease up on the short passes too. He puts too much power behind it as well.
