I think this may be the first time I can remember actually believing the "culture" that the coaches and players keep harping on. These guys legitimately seem to play for each other on every play.

That's the stuff Greg Roman used to do, when our running game was good. Eric Wood talked about it once at length.

Freezing LBs and safeties, misdirection, counters etc. Reid does it, McVay does it, most of the good OCs do it. Deception can still work in the NFL.

His block on the McKenzie Td was noticed by more than a few. As my son pointed out Sunday, the first person Allen hugged in the endzone was Knox.

Sometimes, when a guy blocks that well, for that amount of time, the refs assume he was holding and throw the flag. He destroyed his guy.

Sadly he took a bad penalty later on. But he was excited to be out on the field. And... He's big! Not to mention strong and fast. I was of no particular opinion when he was drafted. But after watching him run around MetLife up close, I like what I see. I see what the Bills liked in him.

I think you know how much I like Greg Roman's play design, maybe not his in game calling, but that man can scheme.

This kind of deception is smart. Isolate a player and make him cover two opposite things. Game calling deception like running when they are expecting pass or passing when they expect run is where OCs get into trouble. A little of that goes a long way.

Isn't he now the OC for the Ravens?

Yep. He's perfect for Jackson. Kaep and Tyrod both led above average offenses with below average talent based on his deceptive running game plus deep ball offense. I'm not at all surprised he's doing well in Bal.

He was heavily criticized in SF. Roman was blamed for Kaepernick's decline.

He was blamed more for the demise of the Jim Harbaugh 49ers than any other single person. Then he came and got run out of Buffalo.

Roman did nothing for Tyrod Taylor and Taylor did nothing for him, except get him out of Buffalo. Taylor's best year as a Bill was 2017 when he took the team into the play-offs. Rick Dennison was the OC in that season.
