Harrison Philips game 2 from Cover 1

A lot of details on defense plays. I was hoping Edmunds can be beat his man more often in run defense

It's a shame that an overpriced scrub like Starr takes reps from Phillips, because I think he can shine with a bigger role.

You can see the improvement from year 1 to year 2 in this player. He and Oliver will be the future of that line.

Winning teams get production from their back-ups and rotational players, like Lawson last week, Harrison this week.

This team has depth, something we're not used to.

Kudos to the bills organization for the way they have put this team together.
Having fresh bodies on the field at all times is the key to why our talented players are ranked so high as a unit.

What does that have to do with Starr being an awful player?

Yes, we should rotate, rotate Starr off the roster and let the productive players/backups get more work in. Bust of a signing.

He's practically invisible out there. When they show him or God forbid if the announcers actually have a reason to mention his name, my reaction is usually "Oh right, I forgot he's still on the team."

To be fair, I noticed Starr had a pretty good game week 1, helped keeping Bell in check.

Why no one mentioned Edmunds? Got a lot of hype pre-season, but so far not standing out like we expected. He's 2nd year player too, and had played virtually every snap last year.

I'm not sue why we should be arguing about who sucks on a great defensive unit . Starr is fine as part of a rotating unit.

Well, it has to do with A) you're going to have to do better than 'Star sucks because I say so', B) maybe a player like Phillips is having success because his role is rotational/back-up and he's getting an advantage that he might not have as a starter, and C) Phillips and Star are different players with different skill sets.

Probably the biggest surprise so far. He's been a force.

Making more of an impact than Edmunds so far. Though Edmunds has not been bad.

So many people don't understand what Starr's job is in this defense. It is NOT to put up numbers. It's to make it easier for everyone else around him to put up numbers. Its the same role he played in Carolina.

I understand his roll, he's just not as good as you think. If we loose Starr this very minute, nothing, and I mean nothing will change with this D. He's a non factor. I understand that he is there to eat up space, but he's not that good at it, there's no drop off at all in production when he's out of the game, and he gives you zero pass rush. Plus, he's paid like a top 5 player at his position. No ****ing thanks, you don't pay a space eater top 5 DT money unless he can disrupt that pass game. This isn't 1983, if you can't pass rush your utility is low, and Starr isn't that good at eating up blockers anyway. Just look at how poor we were against the run last year.

Thought Edmunds was really good in game 1, not as good in game 2, but I think he looks way better in year 2 than he did in 1.
