Colt isnt doing this because of some social responsibility. Sales are way down. It's a business decision

Re: Colt Suspends AR-15 production for civilian market

I don't know why anyone needs a weapon that allows an untrained 17 year old to kill 17 people and injure 14 more in 90 seconds.

You can't use it to hunt. I guess it can be used for protection but it's heavy to carry around, too large to use easily in a small house/or apartment, and people don't think about the liability. If someone breaks into your house, you have every right to shoot them, but if you miss, your ****ty drywall and Tyvek insulation are't going to stop that round from going into the next room and hitting a family member or going into the next apartment or going into the street, and you will be liable for any injuries or property damage caused by your stray rounds. I know this is true because a cop told me after our condo got broken into- I asked him about getting a gun, and he said they don't recommend them for people in condos/apartments for that reason (and this was in Virginia which has open carry). There are far better firearm choices for protection.

These things are ****ing pointless for civilian purposes.

Incorrect, a lot of folks use them for hunting. 2 of my hunting buddies use them and love them since they are so light and easy to carry. The .223 is quite efficient at killing deer size animals.

As for the other comment about penetrating walls and such, you can buy special home defense loads that are designed just for close quarters and will break apart if they hit anything like drywall. To be honest though, an AR is a ****ty home defense gun. A pistol or a shotgun is better suited for such duty.

    Is that really hunting?

Why not go fishing with dynamite as well?

But what about an army of zombies? Iím talking the fast ones like in World War Z...

a hand gun ainít gonna cut it.

of coarse the werewolves and vampires could also be overwhelming and may require 100 plus rounds.

the other thing is that in such an attack like noted above... Aim is necessary so there is one less thing to worry about considering the soiled BVDs you are wearing.

I stand corrected on the hunting. However, I still think there are other firearms that are still effective for hunting but less deadly if some psychopath tries to point them at humans.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal, in Canada, to hunt with hand guns.

How it should be. I've already seen a few people squawking on facebook about the Liberal's plan to ban assault weapons. I want to ask them if they a.) own one (not likely) b.) were, for some reason planning to buy one and c.) Why? What could you possibly want one for?

You can hunt just fine with a bolt action. Also, the idea of hunting with an AR-15 because it's light is bull**** because it isn't that hard to carry a rifle. Home defense can be done with a two or three round tube mag slide action shotgun. Yes, you can do damage with that but the reload time is not short enough to inflict the mass casualties an AR-15 or AK mock up with large capacity mags can.

My father shot 5-6 moose over the years with an old bolt action rifle.

    That is true hunting.

Bolt action rifles and shotguns are all that are needed.

You want to pistol target practice, keep it at the range and have a permit to carry it in your trunk to go to a tournament.

I wouldn’t really consider him “untrained”. Sadly it sounds like he knew how to use this weapon a lot better than most of the people on this board.

I’ve shot the AR15 before. If I was into owning guns I’d buy one. No kick, easy to use.

Draft a franchise QB that X-Era would be proud to put in his user name for the next 13 years.

Assault rifles have no place in civilian society. Period.

No. Lots of people don't use them to hunt. Fact. Fact #2: your buddies are ****ing low lives. Which, by extension, makes you one as well for trying to justify their stupid actions.

Well damn, now boneheads need another method for rabbits and defending civilization against the street gangs pillaging society at will, not to mention standing stall against the military they proudly pretend to support until they meet a helicopter rocket they don't like much.
