    Oh boy! Work more!

Life is finite. If anything, we should spend less time working

You fail to realize that many are punished for working more... by entering higher tax brackets. But I could guarantee you that we would ALL have higher standards of living if our overtime wages were not taxed at all.

Honestly JATM you really don't have the greatest understanding of the real world... if we work less, who will fund the welfare state the left so greatly covets?

I understand the world greatly. I also have a belief system that humans primary reason for existence shouldn't be work.

Why cant a person apply themselves as a rather menial job? Most people would take more pride in their work if they were paid like human beings

Im fine with that but if you chose to flip burgers dont whine about not getting more and expect to be paid more.

McDonalds employees are not chefs. Its a job meant to be for teens looking for entry jobs. I worked there . Its not meant to be a career unless you want to make your way up management. Even then its not a fine dining management job.

But let's say someone isnt up to snuff and McDonalds is the best they can do.

Personally, I would like to create a tiered salary wage for jobs, but even the bottom pays a living wage for full time employees

the ones that need to get paid are people who have jobs that actually make a difference in other peoples lives. CNAs and EMTs and people that put their lives on the line for others.

    Flip burgers. Na.

Well, there are definitely some people who contribute greatly for our society that are underpaid for what they do, like EMT's and teachers. But that's a separate issue.

At the end of the day, if we as a society want fast food, someone has to flip the burgers. Someone has to scan the groceries and empty the garbage cans and sweep the floors and clean the toilets and push the carts in snowstorms and do all the other low-skill manual jobs. Given that these are undesirable jobs anyway, how can we expect people to do them if they can't even make enough money to make ends meet?

I'm not saying that people who work at McDonald's should drive BMW's and live in McMansions, but they should make enough to pay for basic food, housing and transportation. The idea that someone can work a 40 hour week and still not make enough to cover necessities is completely insane, but we've accepted it as normal in this country.

Not all humans are equal. Some are tall, some short, some fat, some skinny, some smart, some stupid, some can run fast, some can't run at all. Why should all be paid a good salary when they are not capable of producing as much as others?

No one said that people who are more capable shouldn't higher salaries. We are saying that even the least capable should make enough to get by if they are willing to work full time.

Why should stupid people not make as much if they work the same hours?
