Maurice is great for a sound bite but so frustratingly stubborn when it comes to line adjustments and system changes. We will probably see FLA high danger scoring chances go up.

Looks to be official. Refs blow game 4 of the NHL finals. 6 men on the ice for Colorado when the winning goal was scored.

There is an angle behind Vasy as Kadri crosses the line where you can see MacKinnon on the ice. You also see 2 Tampa players on the ice giving them 7 skaters who also left prior to the 5 foot mark. Tampa also benefitted from the same call last year vs NYI. I don't feel bad at all for them.

That's a tough call for linesman on a multi zone pass to try and watch the offside and keep track of everyone on the ice in a change like that. Maybe they should add it to the things they can review because it is so hectic.

The pros and cons of restrcited free agent right winger Jesse Puljujarvi, who looks like he's on his way out of Edmonton. Two different articles paint two differing pictures. Big guy. Drives play. Should score more. Maybe is a late bloomer. Can be gotten on the cheap.

    The pro....

There are a number of factors at play here including Edmonton’s salary cap crunch, his status as a restricted free agent, as well as the fact there seems to be an equal amount of mutual frustration from both sides.

When there is this much smoke, there is usually a reason for it.

Assuming the Oilers do move him in the coming days, weeks, or months, it has the potential to be a regrettable move for them and a nice win for the team that acquires him on the cheap. Just how cheap? According to Sportsnet’s Mark Spector this past week, the market for Puljujarvi seems to range somewhere between a second-or third-round pick, which is a price that almost any team in the league should be willing to gamble on.

They should be willing to do that even if the price is higher.

For starters, the odds of a second-or third-round pick (or even a mid-late first-round pick) turning into a player as good as Puljujarvi currently is are low.

There is also the very real possibility that Puljujarvi has much more to give a team than the Oilers have been able to get out of the No. 4 overall pick from the 2017 draft.

The biggest knock against Puljujarvi at this point is that he simply does not score enough given his draft spot, talent, and the fact he has gotten a lot of ice time with the likes of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

He is coming off of a 14-goal, 22-assist, 36-point season in 65 game for the Oilers this past season, which is actually a slight per-game increase in his scoring from the prior year. His scoring over the past two seasons projects out to around 20 goals and 40 points over an 82 game season. Not great, but definitely useful.

There is also the fact that after an outstanding start to the 2021-22 season through 28 games (10 goals, 13 assist, 23 total points) he missed time due to COVID and then was injured in February, so he was rarely at 100 percent in the second half of the season.

All of this is especially useful when you also factor in that he offers more than just his own personal point production.

He is a play driver and a very good two-way player that, statistically speaking, improves the overall play of his team.
    The con....

EDMONTON — Jesse Puljujarvi and the Edmonton Oilers are ready for a divorce.

As he was three seasons ago, Puljujarvi is ready to move on for a fresh start elsewhere, sources have confirmed. The Oilers are ready to oblige, and are speaking with at least four teams in an attempt to push the return as high as possible.

Puljujarvi’s agent, Markus Lehto, declined to comment but did not dispute the above characterization of his 24-year-old client.

Back in 2019, Lehto told Sportsnet that his client was ready to move on.

Puljujarvi instead went home to Finland for a season, while Holland waited for a first-round pick in trade that never emerged. So he brought Puljujarvi back to middling success, and the GM was praised for his patient handling of the asset.

Three years later, that patience has run out — on both sides.

Puljujarvi is deemed “a play killer” inside the Oilers dressing room, it is believed, where two of the best centremen in the world have not been enough to turn Puljujarvi into a legitimate Top 6 winger in the NHL. The puck dies on his stick in the offensive zone too often to continue to saddle Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl with such a winger on a regular basis.
Look for him to be moved in the next week. Teams interested reportedly are the Coyotes, Devils, Hurricanes (he played with Aho), and the NJ Devils.

Just have bad memories of a couple of big guys who under-performed for the Sabres named Erik Rasmussen and Wayne Primeau.

Finnish GM in CBJ and his old linemate Laine there. Could be a place to watch.

I hope the Sabres re-sign John Hayden. Gritty young player with a lot to offer. Plays hard every shift.

They are so salty in Calgary. Last night a news reporter signed off by saying "See you tomorrow...Unless Columbus offers me less money then I am gone" LOL

Essentially Gaudreau's plan was anywhere but Calgary. I know the feeling unfortunately.
