Barkov is one player who can only get so much ice time.

Florida is full of holes and aging players and the team has underachieved for years.

You may want to do your homework on the players I listed.
I did. Theyre good. They aren't Barkov though

    That's how trades work.

His price will only drop after next season as he becomes a potential rental UFA in a flat cap league on a cash strapped team thats aging.

Just like the Erik Karlson trade, You can only hope you get good prospects in return and the team fails so the 1st is top 5, You're not getting a Karlsson back.

The thing is, I think other teams will line up to take a stab at Barkov. So I think the rags would have to up their offer.

In fact, if Barkov is on the market, I'd expect the sabres to at least go for him. He's such a stud

    Congrats.

Weird question but does this mean kakko would be on the block? I mean, how many wingers do you need and he could get you a serious piece. Just thinking outloud

    Mika. (C)

    Panarin. (LW)

    Kreider. (RW)

    Kakko. (RW )

    Laferniere. (LW)

    Fox. (D)

    Miller. (D)

    Lundkvist. (D)

    Shesterkin. (G)

Everyone else not listed in this group will be available including prospects and draft picks.

The Rangers want a Center to play behind Mika.

Winning the 1st overall pick changes the game.

Draft Picks: #10 or Carolinas #1 from this years draft or both depending on quality of ask.

    (D) Tony DeAngelo. (24)

    (C) Ryan Strome. (27)

(LW) Pavel Buchnevich. (25) or (RW) Vitaly Kravtsov. (20)

    Prospects: (C) Morgan Barron. (21) (C) Karl Henrikson. (19) (D) Mathew Robinson. (20)
I would say you just got your chance at Barkov handed to you. I just feel anyone can be had in Florida but Barkov, Huberdeau and Ekblad so it might take #1 to do it. Obviously that would be a non starter for the Rangers so I think it won't materialize.

While it jump starts adding more talent, I don't think those guys make them a winner either. Then you are trading away a fan favorite and risk alienating the 24 fans you do have. On top of a team friendly contract for 2 more years in an economic slowdown for the league.

Would be sweet though. I didn't know enough about the prospects until looking them up, but not sure they swing the needle. couldn't even find the Robinson guy. Just a 34 year old playing in the KHL

Jeff Gortons life just got a lot easier.

My bad, I posted Robinson instead of Robertson.

Robertson is a defensemen for the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL.

He was a 2nd round pick.

    He'll be 20 years old in March, He's 6'4 215.

His draft year he played (52) Games had (7) Goals and (26) Assist for (33) points.

This past season he played (60) Games had (13) Goals and (34) Assist for (47) points.

Seems to be a solid player but I still think they love Barkov. It would be a coup to get him

After today I'm not sure it matters anymore.

The Rangers don't need a 1C they need to upgrade Ryan Strome and acquire a Center that moves Strome to 3C. If they even keep him.

Watching Laferniere's skill set he could play Center if need be. He's an elite playmaker that drives the play, And he will start his NHL career at 200+ pounds.

Barkovs name was brought up by someone whose pretty accurate with Rangers information. Along with William Nylander (This ended today) as Rangers targets.

And this was done with the expectation of picking around #10 and #24 in this years draft.

The Panther have a season and a half left with Barkov.

Then his value drops as a rental UFA on the trade market. So Florida will receive calls this offseason as GM's know he'll never resign in FL.

He has a case of the Eichels he's not public about it tho., He wants to win and he would like to play in front of fans during home games.

Its going to be an interesting off season, getting to pick 1st opens so many more options for the Rangers that weren't available yesterday.

Jeff Gortons life just got alot easier.

The Rangers need a solid 2C and a veteran left-handed top 4D to replace Staal and its on.

I hadn't heard that about Barkov. Interesting if true he would fetch a ton on the open market.

People simply don't show up for the Panthers regardless of what they do, It affects the teams players.

I don't think he'll fetch a ton besides the usual type of trade package. Pick, Prospects, Roster Player.

You don't trade star players because you want to its done because you have to.

Florida has some time, But they'll have to move him, Or lose him for nothing.

The universe is being kind with 7 young men embark on a career of promise and potential before the eternal purgatory pick at 8.

Plenty of talent will be there at #8, The question is can they contribute right away.

    1- Lafreniere.

    2- Byfield.

    3- Stutzle.

    4- Drysdale.

    5- Rossi.

    6- Raymond.

    7- Holtz.

    8- Perfetti.

9- Lundell. Who I was originally hoping the Rangers would get.

    10- Sanderson.

    11- Quinn.
