Why in the world would Buffalo pay $8 million plus for a 20 goal scorer?

Rangers fans want Kreider traded because he may ask for $7 mill. Lol

They're a dime a dozen. Its average for the NHL .

Is Sam some defensive wizard that warrants a raise from $3.4m to $ 8-9m a year?

Well, one. Kreiders top season is 53 points. Sam's is 65 and is likely to pass that this season.

Hes also one of the best front of net presences in the league. So hes more of a set up guy.

Look up deflected goals in the NHL. you'll see Kreider at the top of the list. He's also 6'3 225 pounds, Sam don't have the same net front presence or strength. Lol

Big deal he had 65 points once. That's no reason to pay, non primary assist taint point totals, But by all mean do it.

That cycle needs to be broken, I would trade Sam for a guy who plays with an edge, Buffalo is way to soft up front.

Pierre Lebrun said Buffalos untouchables are Dhalin and that Joko kid you got from Chicago.

That's what you want to hear if you're a buffalo fan.

    He makes $4.5m now.

Somewhere around $6.5-$7.5 per. He plays wing not center.

The $7.5 coming from a team like Colorado that has serious cap space and the need, They can over pay.

And the $6.5 range for competitive teams closer to the cap.

If he hits free agency he'll sign with Boston or Colorado.

Samson don't play center he's been a winger most of his career and its where he's best suited.

So look for his contract to be a little less than Kevin Hayes.

The $8 -$9 million is for proven 35-45 goal scorers or Centers who play the PP/PK and score 20 plus goals themselves.

Dallas turned their season around an they're 3rd in the wester conference. 27-17-4 record.

Sequin stays unless they decide otherwise during the off season.

Heres a recent article. Statistically, sam is a top 50 forward in the league, and this article outlines that and comparable contracts.

Low end is 6.5 mil a year. High end is around 8.

He is 40th in points since jan 1, 2018, more than matt duchene

Samson is a winger and he'll get paid as one, You don't get big bucks for points, You get it for goals.

As I said in post #29.

Sammmy will get less than Hayes and that would be around $6m, Thats in line with your article and a 50% pay increase.

Hayes makes more because he's a center same with Duchene.

Sammy is a RFA he has no leverage and might only sign a bridge deal that takes him to UFA status.
