Exclamation Terms of Conduct & Service

    BillsZone.com

    Terms-of-Service (ToS) - revised 2/14/2020

These apply to each and every poster and staff member.

    1. No pornographic, obscene, graphically disturbing material, or links to such material. The gauge used to determine such material is whether a person would get in trouble if the given image is displayed in a typical office environment, and/or whether an upstanding parent would be comfortable showing that image to a young child. If the answer is no to either question, it’s inappropriate.

    2. Do not attempt to bypass the language filter using alternate spelling of the words.

    3. No racist, sexist, or other derogatory comments referring to sexual orientation.

    4. No personal attacks or communication that is intended to harass, belittle, humiliate, embarrass, threaten or otherwise demean another poster or their families, job or financial situation. Veiled attacks directed at another poster and determined obvious by a Bills Zone staff member will be considered an attack. Failure to honor or oblige to requests to leave a poster alone by the said poster or a Bills Zone staff member will be considered a violation of this policy.

These incidents may be dealt with more severely than other violations, and could include an immediate suspension of posting privileges.

Conversely, if you feel that your rights as a poster have been violated by another, contact a moderator or staff member with your concerns and we will assist you in resolving the issue.

Please think before you reveal personal information. Anything personal about yourself that you would not want discussed in public, you should avoid sharing.

    5. No blatant or flagrant bashing of the site or message boards. Constructive criticism is encouraged and welcomed when it is made in the proper forum in the Q&A Forum.

    6. No spam. For the purposes of this ToS, the definition of 'spam' will include but not be limited to posts that contain repeated trolling, repeated abusive behavior, advertising, and/or links to malicious websites.

    7. No advertisements without prior approval by site management.

    8. No Flames (or posts intended to harassingly antagonize a fellow poster). See Rule 4.

    9. No posting of entire articles/copyrighted material. A few sentences or a maximum of a paragraph is a sufficient "teaser". Posts containing news stories/article segments must also include a URL link to the article where it is originally published at the minimum.

    10. Moderators reserve the right to relocate, remove, or close any postings including but not limited to threads, posts, messages, and images that are deemed inappropriate by the Bills Zone staff in the greater interests of the message board.

    11. Failure to adhere to the Terms of Service will be considered grounds for immediate disciplinary action, including the loss of posting privileges overall or in any particular threads and permanent banning. The Zone will make every reasonable attempt to warn users of TOS violation(s) via PM (private message) and/or the e-mail that the user provided at time of their registration.

    12. Any disagreement with actions taken by the Bills Zone staff may be discussed and appealed privately with the individual or other staff members. Any grievances aired out in the public forums may be considered personal attacks, flagrant bashing of the site, spam, or flames, as indicted in Rules 4, 5, 6, and 8 above.

    13. Any disciplinary actions taken are directed towards the individual offender, not the username. All suspected accounts of the offender will also be suspended. Re-registering under a different username is considered an attempt to circumvent the disciplinary action and may result in further loss of privileges.

    14. Do not abuse the system for reporting posts or posters. Repeated reporting of posts that do not violate the ToS may be considered a violation of the ToS.

    15. Have fun.

Treat others as you would like others to treat you. Do not treat others in ways that you would not like to be treated.

Re: Terms of Conduct & Service

Anyone who is at all familiar with my posting knows that I have no interest in or use for foul language, but there have been times when a player's name will trigger the language filter. It can be very frustrating when you can't do a post about a particular player just because he's got a weird name.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

#2 has a typo. Please remove the “s” from the end of “attempt” or revise the sentence. I can’t get this off of my mind and I want to enjoy the weekend, thanks.

    - - - Updated - - -

I’d also ask that “liberal” not be filtered in the Spin Zone whenever it’s reopened.

Are these like the things we sign at the bottom and no one reads? Or just press next.
Draft a franchise QB that X-Era would be proud to put in his user name for the next 13 years.

Is constant gaslighting covered under "repeated abusive behavior?"

If you think a post (or series of posts) violate the ToS use the 'Report Post' function so staff can review it.

Re: Terms of Conduct & Service

If we are not allowed by the TOS to be critical of moderation in a thread, should moderators warn users privately rather than publicly? If I am called out in public, I think I deserve to defend myself in public.

Defending yourself does not = criticism of moderation.

Specifically, if your response to "Stick to the subject instead of dogging on other posters" is something along the lines of "But they are doing it too!"...or, to quote..."Several posters are calling him out for garbage posts. Your focus is on us? Uneven, at best."...that's not a defense, that's a rationalization. An excuse. A defense would be be "I'm not dogging on other posters, your accusation is unjust".

And if you want to claim that as a defense, go right ahead...fill in the blank..."__________________________________________________".

Generally speaking as with any post by anybody, if you have an issue with a comment you can always use the 'Report Post' function so that your complaint is 'registered' for the entire staff to review. You're certainly allowed to report posts made by staff as well as any other member.

Having said all that, forum moderation has always been, and probably always will be, a combination of public and private actions. Although a public admonition to "attack the post not the poster" may be directed at a single...or a few...individuals in a thread for a specific incident it also serves as a reminder for the rest of the members that end up viewing the conversation that we do have rules, and those rules should be followed. Most of our 'work' for more serious offenses than general warnings are done privately...the discussions are held in private forums and the actions/communications are accomplished through PM's.

But you don't see any of that, so as far as what your perceptions are based on it doesn't happen. But it does. Probably more than you think.

So maybe the next time you think you're being treated unfairly I would suggest at least considering the possibility that despite you being involved in a very minor public 'reminder' it's very likely that more serious and/or more consistently occurring transgressions are being handled...or at least trying to be... by the staff privately already.

Finally, none of us are perfect by any means, especially the staff, and we 'get' that. Posters get some slack when they do cross lines it's not like we're real heavy-handed with the point system or ban hammer so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect that we get the same courtesy in return for how we are doing our 'job'.
