Mocking The Bills: Brandon Beane Gets His Man

Buffalo receives pick 17 from the Dallas Cowboys
Dallas receives picks 22, 86, and 149 from the Buffalo Bills

First Round - Pick 17 - Henry Ruggs III- WR,Alabama

Ruggs may very well be the most dynamic playmaker in the 2020 NFL Draft. He has incredible speed, can make contested catches, and has the ability to make an impact from day one. While I realize the 2020 draft is deep at receiver, one could argue that Ruggs is worth the modest price it would cost to move up.

Re: Mocking The Bills: Brandon Beane Gets His Man

Is the difference between him and the other WR's in this draft class worth spending 3 picks to get him?

not sure. A Speedster who although has good TD numbers, he never broke 1,000.
I wouldnt be surprised that Beane moves up to get his man which he has always done but don't know who.

Re: Mocking The Bills: Brandon Beane Gets His Man

I get that people are hopeful for a better WR, but getting one won't make Josh Allen more accurate. So to me this need becomes less important than strengthening the o-line and replacing Alexander and getting a CB.

We would really be moving up 5 spots in the first round in return for giving up our 86th and 149th picks. Like all of these deals, it would be a question that would only be answered in a few seasons.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

He's been compared to DeSean Jackson by one site https://thedraftnetwork.com/player/h...iii/9PMNe2V0Ag and not sure we need that type of WR. Personally I don't like the trade as we aren't one player away.

If the guy IS a future ALL PRO or at very least has all the tools (skills, statistics, mind set, work ethic, etc.) to be one, I say go for it, otherwise like Greedo says, spend your picks wisely.

Re: Mocking The Bills: Brandon Beane Gets His Man

This WR class is too deep to move up if you ask me. Just stay put (or even trade down) and take BPA. We can still get a good WR.

Besides, the last WR we moved up for just won a Super Bowl with another team because he didnít want to play for us.

Re: Mocking The Bills: Brandon Beane Gets His Man

The more I read about him, the less I like. He compares to Tyreek Hill (or maybe a more physical DJAX), but he also seems to have the highest bust potential. I wouldnt be upset with the pick, but I dont know if there's a big difference between Ruggs, Higgins, or Shenault... especially one that means we have to use draft capital.

If we're gonna trade up, do it for Lamb or Jeudy. Or if you really want to trade up (move in the top 10) for one of the OTs like Thomas or Willis

He only struggles with over the shoulder passes. You could argue that when it comes to throwing tightly contested passes or perfectly placed difficult throw Allen is top 5. A speedster would help

He made a ton of long passes this past year that were widely off the mark. It left a lot of the fans longing for JP Losman (at least he connected on some of those). John Brown is as much speed as your ever going to get. You can get taller, stronger but not faster. So a new shiny WR isn't going to help the passing game all that much.

Watkins, Robert Woods, Marquise Goodwin all went on to substantially greener pastures.

That is, teams with better QBs.

Josh Allen makes one of those throws about once a year.

This is what I was thinking trade up if you can't live without Lamb or Jeudy.

The least thing I'd be worried about is giving up a low third round pick and a fifth round pick. If it helps your offense..do it. This is especially true when you're going in with 9 picks.

As to Ruggs, there are a few ways to look at it. You're not getting the big, jump ball WR that everyone is clamoring for, the guy that's "open when he's not open". Most of the guys in this group are like that. Shenault, Higgins, Jefferson, Mims, etc. are like that. (Jeury and Lamb aren't small, but won't be drafted due to their size, they're just damn good. They won't be around anyway.)

Ruggs is smaller. We already have Brown and Beasley in the smurf collection. Like Brown, he can be deadly catching the 5 yard slant and taking it to the house. He can also get open deep. Something like 25% of his catches turned into TD's, which is an incredible figure. He's a legit threat to take it to the house on any play.

Pair him with Brown and Beasley..and you can do some damage with a little creativity and on targets passes. You'd have one guy, Brown, who runs a 4.3 40 and another, Ruggs, who's actually faster. Possibilities open up.

I remember the 2008 draft, when everyone was looking for the big WR, the one who was open when he wasn't open. There was a big run in the 2nd round on that type. Devin Thomas, Jordy Nelson, James Hardy, Malcolm Kelly were all taken in the 2nd. I remember saying before that draft, whether people were missing someone who wasn't that big but was still good. In that year, it was Desean Jackson, who went in the mid 2nd round. Of the big WRs, only Jordy Nelson made it (unless you want to count Stevie Johnson, who didn't go until the 6th or 7th.)

I'm pretty sure this class is better than the 2008 class. But I wouldn't ignore a Henry Ruggs because he's less than 6 feet. There are a number of ways they can go but it can be tough to pass on speed.

A week ago, he had Buffalo trading down and taking WR Jefferson of LSU with pick #30.

Never heard of this guy. Unless he's an alias for Beane, it isn't happening.
