    Re: Sabres revisionists history?

I'm finding this thread interesting, especially since I've never really closely followed the Sabres.

So, let's keep it on track. And to prevent any bitching by the posts I split out... make sure you're familiar with #12 of the ToS.

One revisionists history I wonder for that 05-06 team is what if the Sabres offloaded Satan at the 04 deadline like he wanted instead of losing him for nothing? What if they got a prospect or a pick that turned into something of use in 05-06 or even 06-07?

He was drafted in the 3rd round, He had a solid career as a defensive forward.

Or if Gomez didnt kick Miller's ankle. Sabres were 5th in the east when that happened

Sabres acquired him, IIRC, at trade deadline to inject some life into their team for a play-off run. That he was underwhelming was an understatement.

He came over in 08-09. They missed that year after Miller's injury

He played well for the Rangers playoff runs.

    Maybe its not him?

That season was torpedoed by Miller's injury. Once that happened, it was game over. Which is a shame, because that 08-09 team was a good one.

To expand on this, and I recall this very vividly. I was at a bowling ally while home from GR when this happened. The Sabres were 5th in the east when Miller went down.

You arent 5th unless you are a legit team

What if the Sabres never traded Pierre Turgeon, Benoit Hogue and Uwe Krupp?

Sure Lafontaine had one good season for the Sabres but he had injury problems while Turgeon and Krupp played until they were almost 40.

What if the Sabres never traded Ray Sheppard for a dollar? Sheppard went on to be a 50 goal scorer in the league, meanwhile the Sabres got a whole buck.

What did the Sabres get in return for lafontaine? That was before my time.

A draft pick that turned into Andrew Peters.
