Niners QB Trey Lance clears up Titans rumors after Ran Carthon post: 'I don't want to be anywhere else'

Lance told quarterback trainer Quincy Avery during an interview on "The Q with Quincy Avery" live stream that the post was a "mistake," and he never meant it to sound like he wanted out of San Francisco.

The QB said he only found out about the hullabaloo after 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan joked about it.

"Kyle told me the next morning because we had an install meeting. Kyle asked me, 'Have you seen everything? People say you're going to the Titans and stuff,'" Lance said Thursday, via the San Francisco Chronicle. "I go, 'What are you talking about?' And he goes, 'I just saw it. People are talking crazy. They don't know what they're talking about. I just thought it was funny.' He was the one who told me about it. I didn't see anything."

With every tweet, blurb, and video that argued, re-argued, and de-argued the question of whether officials should have flagged an instance of defensive holding that definitely happened late in Super Bowl LVII, those who run the NFL had to be smiling.
They were smiling not because they relished yet another officiating controversy, but because the overblown brouhaha over whether holding should have been called holding when holding actually occurred provided perfect cover for the reality that the field was an embarrassment to Big Shield and everyone associated with it.

Long-time NFL special-teams coach John Bonamego retires

Bonamego worked as a special-teams coordinator or assistant at the NFL level with the Jaguars (1999-2002, 2012), the Packers (2003-05), the Saints (2006-07, 2011), the Dolphins (2008-10), the Lions (2013-14, 2019), and the Rams (2020). In 2021, he was a senior coaching assistant with the Rams in 2021, capping his NFL career with a Super Bowl win.

He also served as head coach at Central Michigan from 2015 to 2018. He capped his career in 2022, as a senior special-teams assistant at Iowa State.

Vikings re-sign Khyiris Tonga

The Vikings brought defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga to Minnesota in 2022 and he’ll be sticking around in 2023.
The team announced that they have re-signed Tonga on Friday night. Tonga was set to be an exclusive rights free agent and joins tackle Blake Brandel in avoiding that process by re-signing with the Vikings right away.
