The biggest challenge to an extended holdout by Jackson is developing a rapport with him, Monken added.

"I mean it's like any player, the more time you spend with them, the more comfortable they get with any system. That's more relationship, and that's part of it. Frank Reich “really not ready” to say if Panthers will bring in Derek Carr for a visit


Head coach Frank Reich wasn’t ready to say one way or another when asked that question on Tuesday.
“Interesting question,” Reich said in his press conference. “We’re really literally sitting down with the guys today. First staff meeting will be tomorrow. But I’ve kind of met with guys individually saying, here’s what we’re doing. Step one, let’s evaluate our roster. So, we’re really just starting that process. So, step two, evaluate the free agents. Everybody got their list. Step three, now we’re going to the college guys.
“So, that process has literally [just] begun, so really not ready to discuss the specifics of that because we’re really just beginning.”
Carr has already had visits with the Saints and the Jets, both of which reportedly went well. But Carr’s brother, David, said on Monday that Derek’s search for a new team will be “a long process.”

After one year in Philadelphia with quarterback Jalen Hurts, Eagles Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown realizes just how significant a contract extension is for the QB this offseason.

Thus, Brown didn't hesitate to express his devotion to Hurts or put a little more pressure on Eagles general manager Howie Roseman to get a deal done.

"You gotta pay, bro," Brown said on an episode of the Raw Room podcast posted on Tuesday. "I love Philly. What I'm about to say … You do not pay this man, just ship me off wherever he's going to go. So, you talk about pressure, Howie, get it done."

The podcast, which features NFL veterans Daren Bates and Jalen Collins, is largely conversational rather than an interview, and some of Brown's comments could be seen as somewhat jovial.

Aaron Jones took $5 million pay cut, and more than doubled his per-game roster bonuses

The revised contract signed by Packers running back Aaron Jones keeps him Green Bay at a rate that better reflects the current market for the position he plays.

Per a source with knowledge of the terms of the deal, Jones was due to make $16 million in 2023, in the form of an $8.1 million base salary, a $7 million roster bonus due on March 17, a $500,000 workout bonus, and $400,000 in per-game active roster bonuses.

Report: Brock Purdy’s surgery postponed because of inflammation


49ers quarterback Brock Purdy will not undergo elbow surgery Wednesday as planned, after all. Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Purdy had a pre-op visit in Arlington with Dr. Keith Meister and the Texas Rangers team physician recommended postponing surgery because of ongoing inflammation.


Purdy will meet with Meister again in early March.

Mecole Hardman had core muscle surgery on Tuesday

Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman missed much of the season and Super Bowl LVII due to what was called an abdominal injury and he’s having it surgically repaired on Tuesday.

Hardman posted a picture of himself in surgical garb and Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that he’s being operated on by core muscle specialist William Meyers in Philadelphia.

Frank Reich: I will call offensive plays to start, will hand it off at some point

When Frank Reich was introduced as the head coach of the Panthers, he said he would wait to decide about whether he will call offensive plays for the team until the team had filled out its coaching staff.

The Panthers have done a lot of work on that front, including the hire of offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, and Reich revealed his decision at a Tuesday press conference.

• Willie Taggart has been hired as the Ravens' new running backs coach, the team announced on. Taggart, who was the former head coach at FAU, Florida State, Oregon, South Florida and Western Kentucky, was once Jim Harbaugh’s RBs coach at Stanford and now joins his brother in Baltimore. Tee Martin was also named as the Ravens' quarterbacks coach.
