Byron Jones seems to indicate he's done playing football - ProFootballTalk

Dolphins cornerback Byron Jones, a first-round pick in the 2015 draft, has some important thoughts after eight years in the NFL. And it sounds as if there won’t be a ninth NFL season.
Retweeting the video of his impressive 12-foot, three-inch long jump from the 2015 Combine, Jones said this: “Much has changed in 8 years. Today I can’t run or jump because of my injuries sustained playing this game. DO NOT take the pills they give you. DO NOT take the injections they give you. If you absolutely must, consult an outside doctor to learn the long-term implications.”

Bears wisely plan to keep Justin Fields - ProFootballTalk

As explained in Playmakers, draft picks are lottery tickets. When you have a winning lottery ticket, you don’t trade it in for more lottery tickets.

Fields has proven to be a winning ticket.

He’s the most significant running threat at the quarterback position in the league. He has the potential to be one of the best overall quarterbacks in the league.

Why move him and take a chance on an unproven commodity at the quarterback position? History has shown — repeatedly — that it’s a crapshoot at the top of round one.

Here are the No. 1 overall picks at quarterback over the past 50 years: Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow, Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Jared Goff, Jameis Winston, Andrew Luck, Cam Newton, Sam Bradford, Matthew Stafford, JaMarcus Russell, Alex Smith, Eli Manning, Carson Palmer, David Carr, Michael Vick, Tim Couch, Peyton Manning, Drew Bledsoe, Jeff George, Troy Aikman, Vinny Testaverde, John Elway, and Steve Bartkowski.

Stephen Jones- We'll probably use franchise tag again this year - ProFootballTalk

No teams have used a franchise tag yet this offseason and one team to watch leading up to the March 7 deadline is the Cowboys.
Dallas used the tag on tight end Dalton Schultz last year and did not reach a long-term deal with him before last season. That leaves Schultz on track for unrestricted free agency along with running back Tony Pollard, who would be in line for a $10.1 million contract under the terms of the tag.

Duke Tobin not interested in trading Tee Higgins- "They want a receiver, go find your own" - ProFootballTalk

Having completed his third season, Bengals receiver Tee Higgins is in line for a contract extension and a substantial raise.
That’s led to some speculation that Cincinnati could trade Higgins — much like Tennessee did when A.J. Brown had earned a second contract last offseason.

Dolphins plan to take their time deciding on Tua Tagovailoa's option - ProFootballTalk

The Dolphins have said that they plan to have Tua Tagovailoa as their starting quarterback in 2023, but they’re not ready to make any decisions about 2024 at this point.

May 1 is the deadline for the Dolphins to exercise their option on Tagovailoa’s contract for his fifth NFL season and head coach Mike McDaniel was asked about the team’s plans during a Scouting Combine press conference. McDaniel said that he and General Manager Chris Grier plan to take all the time they can before making a call about a fully guaranteed salary of just over $23 million.

Brian Gutekunst- Jordan Love is ready to play, and he needs to play - ProFootballTalk

The one thing the Packers do know is: Jordan Love is ready to play.
“We’re excited about him,” Gutekunst said. “I think I’ve expressed to a lot of people that he needs to play. That’s the next step in his progression. He needs to play. Jordan’s done a great job working hard, so he’s doing everything we’re asking.”
Love, the 26th overall selection in 2020, has played only 10 games with one start in three seasons. But if he’s not ready now, he will never be ready.
“We took him for a reason back in 2020,” Gutekunst said. “He’s been progressing nicely, and to see him kind of take the jump he did this past year was nice. Again, it’s much different than going out there week in, week out, taking on the challenges when teams are game planning for you.

Giants to release WR Kenny Golladay on first day of new league year

Golladay's release will provide $6.7 million in cap savings and close the book on a free-agent signing that will go down as a Big Blue bust.

After making a name for himself as a red-zone target and contested-catch aficionado by amassing 3,068 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns in four seasons with the Detroit Lions, Golladay joined New York in 2021 on a four-year, $72 million contract.

He failed to live up to that price tag. The former Pro Bowler collected 37 of his 76 targets for 521 yards and no touchdowns during his first season with the Giants.
