Cardinals expect plenty of discussions about trading down from No. 3 - ProFootballTalk

The Cardinals own the third overall pick in Thursday night’s draft, and they don’t plan to take a quarterback a year after extending Kyler Murray. Which means they’ll get calls from interested in trading up for a quarterback.

Cardinals General Manager Monti Ossenfort said trade talks should heat up in the coming days.

Jaguars' Cam Robinson facing PED suspension - ProFootballTalk

The length of Robinson’s suspension has not been reported.
Robinson has played his entire career in Jacksonville and has started every game he has played, including 14 games last year. He missed the Jaguars’ final three regular-season games and both playoff games with a knee injury.
When asked recently if Robinson would be ready to go this year, Jaguars General Manager Trent Baalke replied, “From a health standpoint, yes.”
Robinson signed a three-year, $54 million contract with $33 million guaranteed last year. His suspension may void the remaining guarantees on that contract, and his $16 million base salary for 2023 means he will lose $888,888 of salary for each game he is suspended.

Texans' pick at No. 2 remains a mystery - ProFootballTalk

It’s the morning of the 2023 NFL draft, and Bryce Young looks like a lock to be the No. 1 pick. But no one seems to know what’s happening at No. 2.
Alabama pass rusher Will Anderson, Texas Tech pass rusher Tyree Wilson and Kentucky quarterback Will Levis are favored to go No. 2 at different sports books.

Top Prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft

As is common in most drafts, the most highly sought-after prospects are the quarterbacks. This year’s class has two players guaranteed to go in the first round and two more considered near-locks to hear their names called on the draft’s first day.
Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud, Alabama’s Bryce Young, Florida’s Anthony Richardson, and Kentucky’s Will Levis can all be found inside the top 10 of Pro Football Network’s Consensus Big Board.
NFL fans have been spoiled in recent years with some truly spectacular wide receiver classes. The 2022 class will likely go down as one of the best of all time.
This year’s group is nowhere near as high-quality, but there are still several interesting prospects who should be starting NFL receivers for years to come.
PFN has four wide receivers listed as top-30 players in the 2023 draft: Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba (No. 18), TCU’s Quentin Johnston (No. 19), USC’s Jordan Addison (No. 25), and Boston College’s Zay Flowers (No. 27).
In recent years, NFL teams have grown wise to the frequent replaceability of running backs. We haven’t seen a running back selected in the top half of the first round since Saquon Barkley in 2018. Last year, Breece Hall, one of the best prospects of the past decade, was the first running back off the board. He went in the second round.
MORE: The Worst First-Round Draft Pick for All 32 NFL Teams Since 2000

The 2023 NFL Draft will put that theory to the test as Texas running back Bijan Robinson, who managed 35 touchdowns and more than 3,200 total yards over his final two collegiate seasons, may be the most talented offensive player in the draft.
Will the devaluation of the running back position continue? Or will one team become so enamored with Robinson’s skill set that they just can’t pass him up?
I still expect Robinson to know his NFL team by the end of Thursday night, but it would be a surprise if he became the first running back in five years to go in the front half of the first round.
On the defensive side of the ball, Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. and Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter stand above the rest of the class. But Carter’s draft stock could fall after he was involved in a fatal crash that killed Georgia recruiting analyst Chandler LeCroy and offensive lineman Devin Willock.
Other defensive prospects like edge rushers Tyree Wilson (Texas Tech) and Myles Murphy (Clemson) could also sneak into the top 10, but the most intriguing position group might be the cornerback class.
Christian Gonzalez (Oregon), Devon Witherspoon (Illinois), Kelee Ringo (Georgia), Joey Porter Jr. (Penn State), and Deonte Banks (Maryland) all profile as potential first-rounders, while Gonzalez and Witherspoon could come off the board in the top 10.

How high will Anthony Richardson go?

How high will Anthony Richardson go? - ProFootballTalk

The reality is that there’s no clear-cut, sure-thing at quarterback in this year’s class. And Richardson is the one with the highest ceiling. He has played only one year of college football. He arguably has only scratched the surface, and will only get better.
As one source put it on Thursday afternoon, “There’s never been anything like him before.”
He lacks red flags relating to off-field characteristics or personality. There’s no glaring reason to question his ability to learn or to process. And, athletically, he’s a freak.
If all else fails, he’d be an even better version of Taysom Hill.
Think of how the position has changed. The best quarterbacks have the mobility to extend pass plays, and/or to take advantage of designed runs. Look at Justin Fields currently, and early-career Lamar Jackson.

This is incorrect. AR played 3 seasons at UF but only started last season.

Packers, Jordan Love work out two-year deal to replace fifth-year option - ProFootballTalk

The Packers won’t be exercising the fifth-year option for quarterback Jordan Love, after all.
    They won’t need to.

The team and the player have agreed to a one-year extension, via multiple reports. It reportedly has $13.5 million fully guaranteed, and it’s worth “up to” $22.5 million — which clearly means he has to reach certain playing-time and/or team/individual achievements to get there.

It’s a win-win for the Packers and Love. Green Bay faced the question of whether it would commit to $20.3 million fully guaranteed for 2024. Love faced the prospect of making $2.298 million for 2023 with no security beyond the current season.

If Love meets the various triggers, he’ll make what he would have made under the fifth-year option. He’ll also have significant protection (more than $10 million) against the possibility of playing poorly in 2023, or of getting injured.

The team announced on Tuesday morning that they have exercised their option on Thomas’ contract for the 2024 season. The move guarantees Thomas a salary of $14.175 million.

Henry Ruggs will plead guilty to DUI resulting in death, vehicular manslaughter - ProFootballTalk

Former Raiders first-round pick Henry Ruggs will plead guilty to a pair of charges related to the November 2021 car crash that killed a woman in Las Vegas.

Ruggs’ lawyers waived the right to a preliminary hearing on Tuesday and said that their client will plead guilty to a felony charge of DUI resulting in death and a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter. Ruggs’ lawyers and prosecutors agreed to a deal that calls for Ruggs to go to prison for three to 10 years, although that still needs to be approved by a judge.

49ers sign QB Brandon Allen - ProFootballTalk

He’ll be the fourth quarterback on the 49ers’ roster, joining Brock Purdy, Trey Lance and Sam Darnold. Purdy is recovering from surgery on his throwing elbow, so they wanted another arm in camp. Allen would seem to be a long shot to make the 49ers’ regular-season roster, although he might have a chance if Purdy isn’t ready for the start of the regular season, or if Lance is traded.
The 30-year-old Allen was a sixth-round pick of the Jaguars in 2016. He has also played for the Rams, Broncos and Bengals. He has started nine games in his NFL career and has a 56.7 percent completion rate, with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Report- Randall Cobb is expected to sign with Jets - ProFootballTalk

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Randall Cobb is expected to sign a one-year deal with the AFC East club. Cobb played with Rodgers in Green Bay from 2011 to 2018 and then returned for the last two seasons. He and Rodgers walked off the field together after the final game of the 2022 season, but Wednesday’s news suggests that won’t be the final act of their partnership.
