Patriots to honor Tom Brady at home opener - ProFootballTalk

This would seem to be fairly persuasive evidence that Brady isn’t going to unretire for the second straight year, since he would otherwise be occupied that day. Unless he’s playing for the road team.
That said, would Brady have any qualms about requesting a postponement if he decides between now and then to play?
Regardless, the plans make that game bigger — and it possibly hints to the fact that it will be a standalone game.
The Patriots host at Gillette Stadium the Bills, Chiefs, Dolphins, Jets, Chargers, Saints, Eagles, and Commanders. The Patriots gave up their ninth home game this year to Germany, for a contest against the Colts.

Texans signing OG Shaq Mason to three-year, $36 million extension

The Texans apparently had bigger plans for Shaq Mason after the team traded for the veteran guard this offseason.

Houston is signing Mason to a three-year, $36 million contract extension that includes $22 million in total guarantees, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday, per Mason's agent Deryk Gilmore.

Mason, who was acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a late-round pick swap in March, is part of Nick Caserio's plan to upgrade Houston's offensive line as it enters a transformative era with a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback. Mason joins an O-line anchored by tackles Laremy Tunsil and Tytus Howard.

Chargers scheduled for six standalone games in 2023 - ProFootballTalk

The first will come in Week Six, when the Chargers host the Cowboys on Monday Night Football. The two teams last played in Los Angeles in 2021, with Dallas coming away with a 20-17 victory.
The Chargers will then host the Bears on Sunday Night Football in Week Eight, marking the first meeting between Herbert and Bears quarterback Justin Fields.
The following Monday, the Chargers will face the Jets for their second Monday Night Football appearance in four weeks. That is slated to be the first matchup between Herbert and now-New York quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
In Week 12 — the Sunday after Thanksgiving — the Chargers are slated to host the Ravens for Sunday Night Football.
Then it’s two consecutive standalone appearances toward the end of the season, as the club will make the short trip to Las Vegas to face the Raiders for Thursday Night Football in Week 15. And in Week 16, Peacock will exclusively stream the second meeting between Herbert and Josh Allen when the Chargers take on the Bills Saturday, Dec. 23 at SoFi Stadium.

Bryce Young showed up early for practice to "set a tone" - ProFootballTalk

Bryce Young, the No. 1 overall pick, was on the practice field almost an hour before the start of his first workout with his new team. The quarterback wanted to send a message on a “huge day.”
“I wanted to set a tone,” Young said, via Steve Reed of the Associated Press. “I was just here trying to get stuff down like we all were. In this rookie minicamp, we have talked about the themes of the team, and one of them is making sure we are prepared. I think we all want to make the best first impression that we can.”

Broncos sign three draft picks, including third-rounder Riley Moss - ProFootballTalk

Second-round receiver Marvin Mims and third-round linebacker Drew Sanders have yet to reach agreement on their four-year deals.
The Broncos traded a third-round pick in next year’s draft to move up to take Moss, a cornerback from Iowa. He received a $961,809 signing bonus in his four-year, $5.45 million deal.
He made 11 interceptions in five seasons at Iowa.
Skinner, the 183rd overall pick, is a safety from Boise State. He earned first-team All-Mountain West honors in 2022, totaling 65 tackles, eight passes defensed and four interceptions.
Skinner was projected as a third- or fourth-round pick, but he is recovering from a pectoral injury.

Tom Brady in deep discussions to become limited partner of the Raiders, per report - CBSSports.com

Tom Brady is dipping his toe back into the NFL, but this isn't another comeback for the future Hall of Fame quarterback. Instead, he is currently in deep discussions to become a limited partner of the Las Vegas Raiders, according to ESPN. Brady's potential investment into the Raiders organization is characterized as passive and he would not have any operational control or authority over the club in both business and football matters.

2023 NFL strength of schedule for every team- Cowboys, Eagles among hardest; Steelers, Packers have it easier - CBSSports.com

If the Eagles are going to win the NFC East for the second straight season and get back to the Super Bowl, it's not going to be easy and that's because they'll be facing the NFL's most difficult strength of schedule in 2023.
It's been 20 years since the NFC East has produced a repeat champion and based on this year's strength of schedule, that's a drought that likely isn't going to end this season. Philadelphia has a strength of schedule of .566, which not only gives them the most difficult schedule for the upcoming season, but it makes them one of only two teams in the NFL -- along with the Dolphins -- who will have a strength of schedule above .550.

NFL veterans on chopping block after draft- K.J. Hamler, established Jets defender and more - CBSSports.com

With the rookie wage scale in place for over a decade now, the cost of young, springy players makes it alluring for teams to utilize them as contributors over pricey, established players even if there's some element of unknown with the first-year pros.
Let's take a look at the veterans most likely on the chopping block after the draft. While these transactions can of course happen across the entire league, they're typically most prevalent on the clubs over or near the salary cap. I've narrowed my focus to teams that are likely to be looking for more financial breathing room heading into the summer.

Many teams that opposed Thursday flexing got two short-week games - ProFootballTalk

The technical term would be, possibly, “f–k around and find out.”
Commissioner Roger Goodell wanted to incorporate late-season flexing into the Thursday night package. He fell two votes short, for now. As a more-than-acceptable consolation prize, Goodell got the ability to assign teams to a maximum of two short-week, Sunday-to-Thursday games.
