NFL Testing Facemasks Containing N95 Material

The NFL is testing facemasks that could help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Dr. Thom Mayer, the NFLPA’s medical director, revealed on Adam Schefter’s podcast Monday that NFL engineers and sports performance company Oakley are testing prototypes of modified facemasks containing surgical or N95 material.

N95 masks are hard to breath in. I could not imagine doing any medium or high intensity aerobic activity wearing one.

Sounds great for when we visit Mile High in December. No handicap there.

It’s not the material alone that makes an N95 and sme KN95 masks effective... it is the tight seal it forms with the face. Breath escaping a loose masks edges... problem.

This is a dumb idea. Guys have their hands all over each other on every play.

Agreed, which is why there is more than one size of N95 and health care professionals do a fit test to determine the viability of the seal. They do not work for everyone!
