Bills WR John Brown Working out With Teddy Bridgewater

According to NBC Sports’ Peter King, Brown has been working out with Carolina Panthers QB Teddy Bridgewater.

There are issues. Bridgewater is working with pro and college receivers (including Buffalo’s John Brown) in Miami, but not yet with any of his own.

Although working out with Allen would be the most ideal situation, Bills fans saw that the two players had instant chemistry in 2019. In his first year with Buffalo, Brown caught 72 passes for 1,060 yards and six touchdowns. His reception and yard totals were both career-highs.

Brown also threw two touchdown passes during the 2019 season. His first touchdown pass occurred on Thanksgiving Day when he connected with Devin Singletary for a 28-yard touchdown. In the Bills’ Wild Card matchup against the Houston Texans, Brown connected with Allen for a 16-yard score as well.

The good news for Bills fans is that Brown will be working out with Allen very soon. The Bills QB told One Bills Live last week that he planned to fly to Florida this week to workout with Brown and new wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

As the article said, he proved to have instant chemistry with Josh, having a career year in receptions and yards in 15 games (and probably would have at least matched his career high in TDs if he played against the Jets). And that was as a #1 WR. Imagine him as the #2 WR!

Uhh as a #2, his number will go down. There won't be as many plays designed and called for him. So nothing to imagine for him individually. As a team on air attack, we can imagine the overall effectiveness being improved ...

Not so fast. With Diggs, Thielen put up big numbers.

this is huge. Beasely and Brown had career numbers. I dont think Diggs will have career numbers since there's only so much balls to go around but I am hoping that teams will have tp pick their poison.

Poison A. Put double coverage on Diggs/Brown? We have Diggs/Brown , Beasely and Knox to throw to. FYI, our rb's can catch from the backfield too.
Poison B Defend the pass all day, we have a 2 headed monster in Singletary and Moss.
Poison C Stack the LOS to defend the run? See poison A

Yup. It's going to be hard to defend this offense.

I actually do. Josh is not a Brady type of QB with that 6th sense where the open guy is from the get-go of a play. He's a guy with extra physical tools that can get the ball to someone if that someone can give him a reason to trust with the target. Brown earned that trust last year. Diggs, for all we know right now (can create separation and catch DA ball), will be ideal in that category. There is a reason the Bills willing to give up that much to get him to be Josh's target.

Well said, put together very reasonably.

reason why I dont is because Josh's deep ball is unproven and there's only so much balls to go around in the passing game with our rb's also able to catch + Allen running the ball. Allen would have to throw the ball 40+ a game which I dont think will happen because running the ball could also be a strength. Unless our D is so good that team will have 10 mins of TOP / game.

Let's say he throws 28 balls, his average in 2019, and completes his 60%. That's roughly 17 receptions. If you assume that Diggs is going to need 6-8 of those or he goes postal, then that's 9-10 receptions to split among Brown, Beasley, Knox, and the RBs.

Wake up, brush your teeth, and get ready for a day of hating the Dolphins. Or the Pats? How to choose?
