It's hard to see this turning around under the Pegulas' ownership.

They're going to piss away Eichel's whole career.

Eichel did an interview today and he is pissed.

This isn't good. He needs to give the pegulas an ultimatum. Get me good players to play with and let's compete, or trade me.

That should light a fire under their ass

Sabres have Duane Eichel for (1) more season. If Buffalo does not make the playoffs next year, He'll want out.

    As he should.

That said, imagine the package that would come to Buffalo for him.

    Do we have a choice? I mean, we need 2 top 6 FWD's and 2 top 4 D- men.

One of the hardest things to secure is a true first line center. And we have a superstar in that slot.

I think it can be done, but we need a GM who isn't afraid to go after a project player and PLAY them (puljujarvi) and in the free agent market.

I know, no one wants to play for this dumpster fire of a team. Well, you get out there and sell a team built around eichel and dahlin and pay a little extra if you have to.

I have no problem taking a swing and missing. But botterill and the Sabres are leaving the bat on their shoulder.

    I Wouldn't count on that.

The Sabres would be in a position of weakness and the leagues GM's would hold them over a barrel.

Eichel has enough money to ride it out, And the Sabres recent trade history is something to be desired.

Eichel has been complaining publicly for awhile now and that doesn't help the Sabres.

You could even argue his complaining could hurt the Sabres when it comes to attracting free agents.

Just imagine the conversations he has in private if this all has been public.

I would just trade his ass now and get it over with before the teams captain poisons the locker room even further.

Ryan O'Reilly is shinning his Stanley Cup ring right now saying "I told you."

They haven't had the cap space to make a big splash. So many albatross contracts- Okpo, Bogosian, hell, Sbotka still counted $3.5 mil against this year's cap.

The good news is that Okpo is the only bad contract left and we should have about $37 million under the cap. The bad news is they have to pay Reinhardt so that will eat up a good chunk of that.

First thing the Sabres need to know is what is next years Cap going to look like thanks too Covid-19.

Then the question is do the Pegulas impose a Cap on teams spending since they were loosing money before Covid-19.

I do believe every one of Buffalos RFA's are arbitration eligible besides Tage Thompson.

Capfriendly has Buffalos available Cap currently at $36.9m.

    (Current Cap Hit)

Reinhardt ($3.65m) will want a big raise.

Ullmark ($1.325m) will want a raise.

Olofson ($767k) will want a raise.

    Montour($3.38m) will want a raise.

If I was to guess it would cost $10-$12 million in Cap for the players above to get their raises.

    Then you got guys like.

Mittelstat ($925k) will get a raise.

    Thompson ($925)

    Kahun ($925k)

    Pilut ($925k) if he stays.

So that's maybe another $1-2m in Cap on their raises.

That could potentially leave $15m -$20m in Cap space to sign the remaining RFA's or their replacements and go after Free Agents.

If the current group signs on the low end.

And the contract he signed has an out clause in it if he want's to return to the NHL.

My guess he's using the KHL as leverage against Buffalo.

buffalos refusal to play mid end prospects is maddening. Pilut should have been up all year over some d-men. "OH, but buffalo had too many" well stop letting good ones rot in Rochester while mediocre players play in front of him.

Teams that have success don't pay any attention to if or in what round you were drafted, They play the best players.

I have a funny feeling that the New York Rangers front office have a smile on their faces hearing about Eichels unhappiness.
