    Buffalo Billsí most overrated players

    https-::www.buffalorumblings.com:202028:21271437:buffalo-bills-most-overrated-players

    DT Ed Oliver

Being drafted in the top ten comes with certain expectations, and Oliverís rookie season didnít necessarily match that pedigree. The rookie ended up struggling with the technical aspects of the game, which not only limited his impact but also led him to cede snaps to Jordan Phillips. Sure, Oliverís five sacks were impressive, but he didnít create many splash plays and at times was barely noticeable on the field. Thatís not what you want out of a player selected ninth overall.

    LB Matt Milano

Last year around this time, Milano was criticized by yours truly for his inability to finish a season healthy. In 2019, Milano proved that he could play a full season and avoid the trainerís table. So why is he still on the list? Because of his weakness against the run. Buffaloís defense still struggles with stopping the run, ranking 14th in yards per rush attempt. Milano bears some responsibility in that middle-of-the-road ranking, as he still struggles in taking on and shedding blocks at the point of attack. For all his coverage prowess, the linebacker still isnít a complete defender and the teamís defense is suffering for it.

    Huh.

And here I thought I was the only one not on Milano's bandwagon because of his run defense.

He's a coverage backer that struggles vs the run and can't stay healthy. But he's really good in zone and can cover most TEs. He also plays reckless with his body, and isn't a big guy. I'm not sure how long his career will be.

Milano deserves to be on here strickly for what he did vs Watson.

We all had to deal with everyone acting like Watson is this god after that game when Allen outplayed him 95% of the game and Watson got super lucky that Milano is a ****ing moron and decided to essentially push Watson back to balance himself and make an easy play

That play made me lose most hope for Milano. Its a playoff game and you have a free rush at the QB. Instead of just grabbing him and making sure he goes down, he trys to (idk tbh wtf he was trying to do). Then watson has the nerve to to say "there was no way i was going down no matter what on that play"

Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

I have to disagree with Ed Oliver. Yes, I would have liked to have seen more from him in his rookie season, but young DT's are often physically underdeveloped, especially in their rookie season when they don't have a full NFL off-season to bulk up. He'll get better.

He was probably worried about getting a penalty for sacking Watson. Meanwhile JJ Watt is able to land with his full weight on Josh and nothing.

Milano for the playoff game, Lee Smith for all those amazing false starts, offsides, and holds. When a team needed to stay in the game against us, that bastard would get a flag.

He was good enough to get the team to the playoffs despite 9 new starters on offense, no #2 WR, basically half a RB (Singletary was good but split carries with Gore who was a detriment to the offense) and the most drops by receivers in the NFL.

No question it is but you need to do more than draft one in the 2nd or 3rd rounds every 5 years.

It takes a much larger commitment.

Since we didn't do that, we need to sign him or someone else that is better than him, that is also young enough for his prime to match up with Allen's. But that won't happen, because better LTs don't become available unless they are old, or injured and usually it's both old and injured.

The alternative to resigning him is to roll with a rookie LT or risky veteran, which risks wasting the last cheap year of Josh's rookie deal. That'd be stupid. Dawkins will and should get good money because there are no acceptable alternatives. The front office painted themselves into this corner by neglecting the Oline for so long.

    He's this century's John Fina.

Always good enough to hold onto the job.

Not quite good enough to be considered much more than average at the position.

That being said, it's gotten a lot harder to find great LTs in recent decades. So I'm fine with Dawkins for the present.
