Great signing after losing Feliciano. I give Beane a lot of credit for acting so quickly.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

This OL will disappoint this year if there is a year.

An upgrade over Feliciano and a great move after losing him. Allows the Bills to continue developing Ford at RT with Daryl Williams hopefully being solid, if not a stud there.

If he's so good then why did the Jets cut him? You and justa have been trying to convince me all off-season that the OL would be fine despite the lack of talent upgrades. The Jets were 7-9 and really should have been 6-10 but we rested our starters in the finale. Now you're saying that rejects from losing teams are upgrades to our OL? So which is it? Is our OL fine or is our OL improved by signing rejects?

We filled a position of need it doesn't mean were married to him.

The question why did the Jets dump him is an unimportant one.

The question why we picked him up is.

We filled a hole .... pretty simple if you understand how this works.

I disagree. If they dumped him because he's a cap casualty- fine. Happens to every team at some point and doesn't necessarily reflect poorly on the player.

Any other reason why he was cut does reflect poorly on the player. Is he a dick in the locker room? Is he getting old and can't perform at the same level? Did he show up out of shape and isn't ready to play? Is he just not that good?

    You concentrate on negatives.

Anyone can turn anything negative there is really no skill in it.

It actually takes less of an effort.

What do you mean I concentrate on the negatives? The Jets cut him. Of course it's a negative. Players don't get cut for positive reasons.

As I pointed out who cares why the Jets cut him.

    We can use him.

You can't judge this move based on what we did or didn't do on the OL during the offseason. You can only judge it based on whether it makes sense right now.

That is to say that this may not improve the OL in the same way as if we had, say, traded for Trent Williams back in March. But with Feliciano out for a few months, adding another option with starting experience at a low pricetag probably makes our OL better than it was yesterday.

Feliciano was a back-up, but a decent one. This new guy is road kill.

Beane didn't just randomly sign a guy.

"Oh look, there's a Guard and we need a Guard!" Clearly there was some thought process about whether he is potentially better than what we have on the roster right now, with Feliciano out.

To Woodman's point, Beane knows that by watching film and having a file on the player. They've played against him. When he gets cut the Bills already have a sense for the guy and what he can do for them. While the reasons he got cut probably require a quick glance in case there a troubling incident of some sort (and a medical), the decision to sign him is based on his track record. I don't think the reason-for-cut plays a meaningful role in that decision.

No one's saying Winter is as good as Feliciano. The only defense anyone is making of this move is on the basis of whether he's useful as a possible Feliciano replacement.

Plus, given COVID we should be stacking extra bodies in every corner we can find. One starting OL gets COVID, and who do you think he's most likely to give it to? Probably the other starting OLs. I'd rather have an extra below average lineman on the roster than to possibly watch Duke Williams play guard in Week 3.

No harm at all here in adding depth that might not even make it out of camp. Weird move to criticize IMO.

Well, first, whether or not the reason the player was cut played a role in Beane's decision is irrelevant. There was some reason the Jets didn't want him.

Second, I think it was pretty close to "Oh look, there's a Guard and we need a Guard!". We had an injury and we needed to add a player at a position where we thought we were set. It's August. The draft is long over and all the good FA's are on rosters. The only players left are other team's rejects. I'm sure our coaches know him from playing against him multiple times, and they probably did some research to make sure he's the best of the rejects, but the point holds that we were desperate and beggars can't be choosers.
