    Bills will release Spencer Long

The Bills agreed to terms with former Jets guard Brian Winters on Monday and they’ll be parting ways with another former member of their AFC East rivals.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the team is releasing offensive lineman Spencer Long on Tuesday. Long was in the second year of a three-year deal and his departure will save the team $2.425 million under the salary cap.

    No trade?
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

Re: Bills will release Spencer Long

Long appeared in 14 games for the Bills as a reserve last season. He was a 13-game starter at center for the Jets in 2018 and he also started 31 games, some at guard, for Washington from 2015 to 2017.

Long had been mentioned as a possible replacement for Jon Feliciano at right guard in Buffalo, but it seems Winters’ arrival knocked him out of that mix.

No surprise. He's been a disappointment.

Huh? He was bad everywhere else he played and was bad here too. If anything, he was less bad than expected. Tough to call him a disappointment, if you expected more that's on you.

He was decent in Washington. But the point being: it's no big loss for the Bills.

If they didn't see him as a starter or even a decent backup , why keep him ? Obvious move after yesterday.

    Winters starts. Next up.

Considering they signed Evan Boehm and Winters, it suggest to me they don't think too much of Long, definitely as a starter but even as a backup.

I thought he'd end up being good trade bait for a fifth or lower eventually considering he has played G and C. Makes a bigger hole at C than G in all honesty, with Feliciano out for awhile...the only depth they have now at center is Boehm.

Might not be anything to be worried about. Feliciano had no meaningful exp at center until we played him there. He wasn't considered backup C depth. They might have someone other than Boehm working at the spot already....Bates ? The OL coach and the scheme love flexibility. I'm high on Bates, I can remember him taking snaps at C, G, and T at different times. At the least, I think this OL coach has his act together in the room.
I lost a bet with Pink and all I got was this dumb avatar that I've had awhile anyway.

Yeah, this is obviously about the Bills thinking Winters is a much better player.

That's exactly what I got from the move.

It doesn't bother me that the Jets didn't like him as some have pointed to.

It's what can he do for us at the end of the day.

Let's hope he proves his value.

    It’s a 1-year $3M deal. Great job Beane.
