If he doesn’t play he screws the team.

If he plays and ends up missing most of the season because he gets COVID, is that still screwing the team?

No doubt it hurts this team tremendously if he doesn't play, but some things are about more than our entertainment.

    Yes.

Basically anybody that opts out the contract is paused for a year.

Does he have a worrisome medical condition? Maybe asthma? Or his wife or kids? If so I totally understand.

If not, the science says the risk for a hyperfit 23 year old and his kids is really minimal. I get why a big fat lineman like Star might be worried, but athletes like Tre shouldn’t be unless they have a condition that elevates their risk

It could be his family too. I heard a comedian on Jim and Sam last week- unfortunately I'm blanking on which one. He said he's starting to work again in the states that are reopened, but his wife is taking care of her elderly parents. He's basically not going to be able to see her for six weeks while he's touring because he doesn't want to risk infecting her so there is no one to take care of the parents.

Ryan Zimmermann on the Nationals opted out for similar family reasons.

Diggs restructured so there’s a chance Tre wants his pay advanced now & his this tiny moment of leverage to get it all now instead of waiting.

    Re: Tre davious White Undecided

From his past media exposure, I get the sense that he's happy, loose guy that you like to have in a locker room. I also heard he is very dedicated to his work, especially in film studies. But this interview gave me different vibe about him. Some guys are really driven, wanting to be the best, the legendary Bruce Smith type. There is no question Bruce wanted to be paid. But he has always been I'm-the-best-so-I-deserved-to-be-paid type. Tre, on the other hand, falls into the I-work-hard-to-get-paid type to me. I appreciate his honesty and the mentality of wanting to take care of his family and those close to him for generations. But I would like to see the drive being wanting to be great first (everything else will actually take care by itself). I could see that once he's paid and his family's generations well being is taken care of, he could easily reason that he no longer needs to push himself to the limit all the time so he could enjoy everything with his family.

Buffalo had a CB who was driven to be the best - Gilmore. He's not that well spoken and is kind of a loner from what I heard. But he's work ethics, dedications, and the internal drive is very well thought of by his coaches, college or pro. Unfortunately he got sick and tired of losing in Buffalo and could not wait to get out of here once he had a chance. And it is no surprise the Belichick quickly came forward to show him the money.

Yeah that makes sense. Tough to know what he’s actually concerned about from here in the cheap seats. Odds are it’s not about his own personal health.

Sit out, blame it on Covid, look for a new contract.

Beane is looking hard at the list of free agent cornerbacks still out there. He might be OK with either Wallace or Norman as a starter outside, but there's no way he wants this team to go into the season with both Wallace and Norman starting.

I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

Can't blame him. As much as I want to see football again, I can't see an attempt at a season ending well any more. I don't want to see any player's people die, and I'm not comfortable with thinking I can make their choices for my amusement.
I lost a bet with Pink and all I got was this dumb avatar that I've had awhile anyway.

Whatever he decides is best for him and his family, I'll still support him and any other player if they decide to opt out.

However, don't dismiss what possible effects decisions like these might have in future locker rooms if the entire season isn;t canceled. The "all for one, one for all" chemistry is going to have cracks that need to be fixed.
